JEE Exam

JEE(Joint Entrance Examination) is a nationwide common engineering entrance exam which is conducted every year for admission to various engineering colleges across different parts of the country. It is your gateway for entering the prestigious IITs, NITs, Central Funded Technical Institutes (CFTIs). It is regarded as one of the most challenging entrance in the country.

JEE is conducted in two parts

  • JEE MAIN
  • JEE ADVANCED

There are some institutes like the Indian Institutes of Science Education and Research (IISERs), Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Petroleum Technology, and the Indian Institute of Science that consider the marks obtained in JEE Advanced as the one of the criteria for admission. However, these institutes are not a part of central IIT JEE Advanced counselling. Many States like Gujarat, Nagaland, Madhya Pradesh, Haryana, Punjab, Uttarakhand and Orissa have joined JEE (Main) system. Therefore, the aspirants seeking admission to the institutions in these states are also advised to fill in the JEE (Main) - 2016 application form online.

 JEE Eligibility

JEE MAINS:

The candidates who have passed their Class 12th Exam or any equivalent qualifying examination in 2014 or 2015; or those who are appearing in their Class 12th Exam or any equivalent qualifying examination in 2016 are eligible to appear in JEE (Main) - 2016.

JEE ADVANCED:

Only top 2 lakh candidates of JEE Main are eligible to appear for JEE Advanced.

The pattern of the both the paper is different.Each paper can be attempted in English or Hindi.

It is conducted in two papers- Paper 1 and Paper 2.

Paper 1: It is for admission in B-tech/ B.E. courses

Paper 2: It is for admission in B.Arch and B.Planning courses

  • Aspirants can apply for either or both of them. Both the papers have multiple choice questions.
  • Paper 1 contains thirty multiple choice questions in each of the three subjects (physics, chemistry and maths). 4 marks are awarded for every correct response and 1 mark is deducted for every incorrect response.

JEE Advanced

  • This national level engineering entrance exam is the second stage of JEE. Only the top 2 lakh rankers of JEE mains are eligible for JEE Advanced.
  • It has two papers and the duration of each paper is 3 hours. It has objective type question. It has questions from three sections Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.

Paper 1: it will have 60 questions of 264 marks.

Each correct answer attracts 3 marks and 1 mark is deducted for each wrong answer. For every unanswered question,marks are neither be awarded nor be deducted.

  JEE Syllabus

The exam covers the topics from Physics, Chemistry and Mathematic. Candidates appearing for JEE shall prepare thoroughly in order to secure a good score.

  • Physics- Includes General Topics, Mechanics, Thermal Physics, Electricity and Magnetism, Optics and Modern Physics
  • Mathematics- Includes topics under Algebra, Trigonometry, Analytical Geometry, Differential Calculus, Integral Calculus and Vectors
