The penultimate day of the Test was conducted smoothly, without any chaos and glitch. Experience through the entire seven days is as the slots and days progressed, the test gradually became difficult. Though the level of questions was to check not what a student has prepared in last few months, but what (s)he has learnt in last 10-12 years, more and more complicated questions were asked. This has been the case particularly in two sections, viz, Language Comprehension and GK.
As usual 180 minute was allotted for 100 questions, which was supposed to be more than sufficient for most of the students (Demo time was not included in this). However, those who are aiming to score well in all sections utilized the time till last minute. No student was seen to have finished the test well in advanced and sitting idle with the system.
There was no section wise time limit- one could use the time for attempting questions in a non-sequential way. There were four marks for each correct answer and one negative mark for a wrong attempt.
It is felt that given the difficulty level of the two sections (QA and LR) being easy to moderate, performance in Eng and GK would be the differentiator. One should start with GK and tread cautiously in this section. An attempt of 12-15 question in GK and 18 -20 questions in English would be considered good; and in each of the other two sections 20-23 would be considered good a total attempt of 70-80 would be considered good. Two interesting observations today, like the first day, are: no RC question and no group question were there. In quant section a few of the questions appeared to be incorrect and somewhat ambiguous. Overall, it was a good test. (A caveat: a couple of correct or incorrect questions may make or mar a student’s prospect of securing one of the desired positions).
PS: A number of CR questions were straight pick from GMAT questions (will definitely help the students, who frequent the internet for CR preparation, peak their performance).

The second day of CMAT has been completed across the country smoothly once again.
The level of questions continued to check what a student has learnt in last 10-12 years, not what (s) he has prepared in last few months.
The test comprised a total of 100 questions to be completed in 180 mins. Caution was the word once again; as due to the ample spare time one is likely to attempt the questions which one is not sure about. There was no section wise time limit- one could use the time for attempting questions in a non-sequential way. There was 4 marks for each correct answer and -1 mark for a wrong attempt.
Students felt that given the difficulty level of the first three sections (QA, Eng and LR), performance in GK would be the differentiator. An attempt of 12-15 questions in GK and 22 -23 questions in each of the first three sections would be considered good; and a total attempt of 75-80 would be considered good. Students also reported that there were no RC passages and no group questions - probably for the first time in the history of management entrance tests in India. Students reported that the language of a few questions was somewhat ambiguous. Overall, it was an easy test and hence, a couple of correct or incorrect questions may make or mar a student’s prospect of securing one of the desired positions.

First out of the 18 CMATs was unveiled this morning across the country.
The test was conducted smoothly, without any chaos and glitch - kudos to AICTE. The level of questions was to check what a student has learnt in last 10-12 years, not what (s)he has prepared in last few months.
As announced earlier by AICTE, the test had a total of 100 questions to be completed in 180 mins. One must exercise caution because of the ample spare time one is likely to attempt the questions which one is not sure about. There was no section wise time limit- one could use the time for attempting questions in a non-sequential way. There were 4 marks for each correct answer and -1 mark for a wrong attempt.
Students reported a few incorrect questions in the paper, and also the language of a few questions was somewhat ambiguous. One QA question supposedly had all wrong option choices. Overall, it was an easy test and hence, a couple of correct or incorrect questions may make or mar a student’s prospect of securing one of the desired positions.
