IBPS CWE RRB (Office Assistant), September 14, 2014 - Exam Analysis 2014

The Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) conducted the year’s first online examination for the recruitment of Office Assistant (Multipurpose) in Regional Rural Banks across the country on September 14, 2014.

There were 200 questions in the paper, which had to be answered in 2 hours and 30 minutes. There were five sections in all - Reasoning, Numerical Ability, General Awareness, English Language/Hindi Language and Computer Knowledge. Other than the fourth section, where in a candidate had to attempt either the section on English Language or the one on Hindi Language, all the other sections were available bilingually, that is, in both English and Hindi. Each question had 5 options. There was negative marking of one-fourth or 0.25 of the marks assigned to that question for all the sections.

The details of the individual sections are given below:

Reasoning

This section saw primarily easy level of questions. A student should have attempted at least 32 - 33 questions. Some of the topics on which questions were asked were Seating Arrangement, Coding Decoding, Blood Relations, Data Sufficiency, etc. No puzzle was asked.

Numerical Ability

The questions in this section were quite easy. There were 5 simple questions on a data interpretation. Some of the topics on which questions were asked were Averages, Simple & Compound Interest, Averages, Age related problems, etc.

General Awareness

The maximum number of questions from this section was from Current Affairs & General Knowledge. Questions from banking were also there. This section was of moderate difficulty level.

English Language

Questions on Error spotting, Spelling and Cloze test dominated this section. There was one Reading Comprehension passage with 10 questions. The questions in this section were fairly easy.

Computer Knowledge

This section comprised very easy questions based on basic knowledge of computers. The main areas from which questions were asked are: Windows, Networking, Hardware and Software.
