are admitted to the program if they qualify
through a two stage selection process modeled
on the more popular full-time entrance procedure, that
is, a written test and a personality assessment. |

Distance-learning MBA
Programs |

The eligibility criteria for
a distance-learning program from a reputed
institute are:
(a) Bachelor's Degree from
a recognized university. Diploma holders need
to also possess three-year work experience.
(b) B-schools select students based on entrance exams
that test the analytical,
verbal and numerical abilities of students.
For distance learning programs,
entrance exams are normally there only for
reputed B-schools, which also tend to conduct
contact classes and are hence looking for a
certain pedigree of students. |

Specialized MBA Programs |

The admission process
consists of B-schools entrance tests very
similar to those administered for the full-
time program. These institutes also check the
candidate's academic record, work experience
and performance in the GD and PI. Entrances
vary with institutes.
In India, the
options for doing a specialized MBA include
agri-business management (IIM A, L), rural
management (Institute of Rural Management,
Anand, Gujarat; NMIMS, Mumbai), forest
management (Indian Institute of Forest
Management, Bhopal), retail management
(KJ Somaiya and Welingkar, Mumbai).
However, most of these courses are highly
specialized and you must be very sure of
your career path before opting for such
