Executive Summary

JMET 2007 provides no respite to the students. Overall, JMET 2007 could be considered difficult as compared to JMET 2006 except for Verbal communication section, which was a pleasant change from last year’s paper. Like last year, the paper had 4 sections- VC, LR, QA and DI. As compared to last year DI was difficult, LR was tricky but the section that stumped most of the students was QA.

Verbal communication was a mix of medium and higher-level difficulty questions. Questions on grammar and RC were easy and do-able while those on vocabulary were slightly difficult and tricky.

The paper consisted of 150 questions which were to be solved in 120 minutes. The paper was broadly divided into 4 sections where correct answers carried 1 mark and incorrect answers carried negative 0.25 marks each.

Section 1: Verbal Communication

Analogies	4	Moderate/ Difficult	The words were of moderate difficulty level. The first two analogies were relatively more difficult than the last two ones.
Antonym/Synonym	6	Difficult	All the words in the questions demand a high knowledge of vocabulary. Else they ran the risk of getting solved incorrectly.
RC (6 -passages)	15	Moderate- Difficult	The passages were not only easy to read but also interesting but questions were inferential and difficult because of the high level of ambiguity among the given answer options.
Grammar	13	Easy/Difficult	Apart from questions 15 and 31, all the other questions require basic knowledge of common errors rules.
Fill in the blanks	2	Easy	Just need to apply contextual usage to select the most appropriate option for the blanks.

This section was of moderate to higher level in terms of difficulty with intense vocabulary being a major constraint and easy RC passages being a strong advantage to avid readers.

Section 2: Logical Reasoning

This section was of moderate level of difficulty because the questions were a mix of easy and difficult ones. The attempts should have been in keeping with the level of comfort one enjoys in a particular sub-section. With 85% accuracy, a score of 17-18 was achievable.

This section was comparatively easier than other sections. There were five Data sets. The Venn-diagram set was the easiest and was a must attempt whereas the Market Share set was the most difficult of all.
