MFC Entrance Test - February
2008 |
|
| |
Overview
An
encore of the jumbled up paper that we saw
in last December’s MAT. This
time around also, there were quite a few
challenging questions.
In this paper, Quantitative Ability, Verbal
Ability, Logical Reasoning and
Data Interpretation sections were
all of average difficulty level, with
each section having quite a few questions
that could be dealt with easily. One
major issue with the paper was its length. |

*Note:
The number of attempts and the score
have been worked out on the basis of
our experts’ insight
on how students would have approached
the test and the score that has normally
been achieved by the students in past
years in a paper similar in difficulty
level to this one. |

Section I: Logical Reasoning
This section in the recent MAT papers
has been a student favorite because of
its high scoring prospect. This time also
the questions were easy. The classification
was as follows:
Analytical Reasoning
These were mixed bag questions with
broad breakup as under:
| Type |
Number

Hence, about 22 questions
from this section could have been attempted.
Assuming 75%+ accuracy, a score of 18+ was
easily possible in the allotted 35 minutes. |
|
| |
|
|
| |
Section II: Quantitative
Ability
This was another where the aspirants could
have easily enhanced their scores. All time
favorite arithmetic was very prominent. The
topic wise break up of the questions was
as follows:
| Type |
Number
of questions |

Assuming
an accuracy of 80% and an attempt of 21
questions, a score of 17+ was possible
with a time spent of about 35 minutes. |
|
| |
|
|
| |
Section III: Data Interpretation
This was a set of questions with above-average
level of difficulty. The sets were either
lengthy or tough to interpret. The easy
parts were DS and Quantitative Comparison
questions. The summary is as under:
| Type |
Number
of questions |
Level of

So, the number of attempts in this section
could be about 19 questions and with about
80% accuracy, one could have comfortably
scored 15+ in this section. |

level. Let us take a closer look at this

Once again, RC could have
fetched a decent score. Also, vocabulary
questions were easily attemptable. So,
both these together could have led to a
high score.
An attempt of 19 questions with 75 % accuracy
could have yielded a possible score of
15+ in 35 minutes. |

Section V: General Awareness |
|
| |
In a jumbled paper such
as this one, these questions appear as
breathers and could be attempted in passing
with out putting in any serious effort. |
|
| |
|
|
| |
Hence, we can sum this
analysis as: |
