	Location of Interview: Bangalore


	Indian Institute of Management, Kozhikode
	There is good news for all candidates appearing for group discussion and interview round of IIM Kozhikode. 2006 appears to be a routine year at IIMK. No surprises, no stress interviews, no case studies etc. However, at times the choice of GD topics is esoteric. For example, one of the groups was given an extract from a Bertand Russell essay to discuss! Besides this minor surprise, it is routine stuff at IIMK. A bit of GK, some questions on academics, work experience and hobbies, there wasn’t anything unusual.

	Group Discussion The GD group was of 10 members and the duration of the GD was 10 – 12 minutes. Most GDs were judged by two panelists. Some of the topics that candidates were given for discussion were: Should media have freedom of expression? Impact of globalization on environment. One of the lessons of history is that nothing is often the good thing to do and always the clever thing to say.

	Interview On an average, interviews were for 15 minutes, with a two-member panel. The candidates were asked varied questions, some of which were: General Awareness Is the Indian constitution applicable all over India? How many states and UTs are there in India? When was the last census conducted? What percentage of population comprises the "middle class"? Speak for one minute on IIMK. Comment on the recent political problem in Karnataka, as the candidate was a resident of Bangalore. Academic Questions What is a pixel? What is LCD? What is CRT? Questions on data warehousing and databases Questions on numerical analysis and optimization techniques. What is ERP? Personal Details What are the recent changes in the format of cricket? Questions on place of origin. Why did you shift your job? What is salsa (candidate mentioned that he was learning it)? How is it different from Indian classical dances such as Bharatnatyam? How do you find the city of Banglore? (Candidate was from UP, now living in Banglore) Which is your favorite book? What have you learnt from it?
