  Group Discussion
For discussion, our group was given about 10 minutes to discuss a case study:

The recruitment and promotion criteria of a company are given. An old timer at the company fails in a written test while a junior tops it. The company takes months in releasing the results of the test and then recruits four others for the urgent vacancies. The old-timer feels he has been rejected as he belongs to another union than the selected four. His union backs him on this issue.

We were asked to:

  • Identify the key issues of this case.
  • Come up with a solution that satisfies all parties.
Although all participants from my group were of the same view, each one wanted to be the one to speak it out aloud. However, better sense prevailed, and we were able to avoid a fish market situation.

Interview
I am self-employed; this naturally led the panelists to question me on how I implemented theoretical project development and cost estimation models into my practice.

While answering their first set of questions, I happened to use the phrase ‘ball park figure’, this prompted one of the panelists to ask about the origin of the phrase.

Given my work experience, the questions mostly focused on my work. However, some freshers at my interview venue were grilled on higher math including calculus.
