Group Discussion
For discussion, our group was a case study:
There is a hospital in a north-eastern state that is small but professionally managed. The nurses are reluctant to come in during the late night shift. A female director in charge of nursing decides to give a financial raise in their wages as an incentive. She also recommends to upgrade their grade to justify the pay hike. Another director opposes this move.

The points to be discussed were:

  • Do you think the pay hikle is justified?
  • What would you do if you were in their shoes?
The group was given a few minutes to study the case. Then each candidate was invited to speak for a minute, at the end of which, the floor was thrown open for a 10 minute discussion. Most of the candidates had similar opinions to express during their individual turn. During the group discussion, the situation got a bit out of control where two of the candidates opposed each other vehemently and were not ready to listen to others even though they did not have any contradicting point of view.

The candidates who laid their thought in a structured fashion during their individual time and did not contribute to the 'fish-market' were the once who could have stood a chance to get noticed.

Interview
The interview was about 10 - 12 minutes long.

The interviewers were interested in knowing my work experiences. One of the interviewers stepped out moments after the process started to attend a phone call and came back only at the very end. So most of the interview was one-on-one.

There was no hardcore focus on academics. The usual questions like 'tell us about yourself', 'why MBA?' and the likes were asked.

The interviewer was interested in my profile of being an entrepreneur and tried to question my motives behind doing an MBA rather than joining a specific course for entrepreneurs. He also suggest a specific institute for the same.
