Institute of Rural Management, Anand (IRMA)

The important thing that I learnt from the IRMA interview is that confidence is the key. If you have complete knowledge of yourself and your academic area, you will do well. And I must say, after a lot of hard work, I was well prepared for this round.

  Group Discussion
The group discussion topic given to us was:
  • Industrial agriculture is the backbone of the Indian economy. It should have reservation in parliament. Agree or Not?

All members of the group were well prepared for the GD. There were a number of good points raised, but unfortunately the group was unable to reach a final conclusion.

Group Task
An interesting component of the IRMA selection round was the group task. Each group of 10 was given a candidate's profile to judge for final selection. This profile listed 10 qualities of the candidate, and as a group we had to rate each quality. We were given another 10 minutes to reach a final decision regarding the candidate’s selection. Thankfully, the group was able to reach a conclusion in this task.

Our answer sheets for the group task were submitted to the interview panel.

Interview
The interview was for 35 minutes. The questions did not focus on a particular area, but were randomly asked. The panelists queried me only on general details and my choice of specialization. It was an interesting interview; the panelists were cracking jokes and smiling.

Some of the questions I was asked in the interview were:

  • What can computers do for farmers?
  • Why IRMA?
  • Should the education system to be privatized?
  • Tell us something about yourself.
  • What is your objective in life?
  • Being a business man's son why do you want to join the rural sector?
  • Do you have any prior experience of or have visited a rural area?
