JIPMER (Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research)

The Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education & Research (JIPMER), funded by Indian central government, is a premier medical college of India. JIPMER was first established on 1 January 1823 and it is the oldest institute to teach European Medicine in Asia. JIPMER offers various undergraduate and postgraduate medical courses. Located at Pondicherry, JIPMER is also a fully functional hospital that provides medical treatments to patients from all over the world. It has about 200 faculty members 3,000 staff and 360 resident physicians. JIPMER has always projected excellence in what it does and has been constantly ranked among the top colleges of the country by various prime websites. JIPMER started operating from one more newly opened campus at Karaikal from November 2015.

 JIPMER Eligibility

Eligibility to apply for JIPMER MBBS exam 2018

  • Candidates who wish to apply for the said exam must be an Indian National or OCI or NRI.
  • The candidates must have completed 17 years of age as or on December 31, 2018 with no upper age cap.
  • Candidates must have passed/appeared in 10+2 examination with Physics, Chemistry Biology/Bio-technology and English as compulsory subjects in class 11th and 12th.
  • The candidates must have obtained a minimum of 60% marks taken together in Physics, Chemistry and Biology in the entrance examination. However, for SC/ST/OBC candidates the minimum is 50%.

    JIPMER MBBS Examination

    JIPMER MBBS 2017 is scheduled to be conducted on June 3, 2018 in an online mode. There will be a total of 200 multiple choice questions from sections of Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Logic & Quantitative reasoning and English Comprehension. JIPMER will be conducting the entrance for a total of 200 seats, for both the campuses combined, in its MBBS program.

    JIPMER Exam pattern

    The question paper will consist of 200 MCQ type questions where only English will be the medium of language. The duration of the exam will be 2 hours and 30 minutes and will be conducted in two shifts- forenoon and afternoon sessions. Candidates will be awarded four marks for each correct answer while there won’t be any deduction for unmarked responses and -1 for each incorrect answer.

    JIPMER Syllabus 2017

    JIPMER MBBS 2017 will be based on the syllabus as prescribed by the State Boards as well as CBSE syllabus for Class XI and XII.
