SBI Probationary Officers 2014 Notification 


SBI has released the advt. for recruitment of 1,837 Probationary Officers. This is the first time the exam will be conducted online. Minimum qualification to apply for this post is graduation in any field (no minimum percentage required). Also, SBI has allowed final year students to appear for this exam. The CTC for this post is highest among all public sector bank viz., Rs. 8,40,000 per annum.

SBI Probationary Officers Exam Highlights


1) Number of vacancies:
The total number of vacancies is 1837, excluding 60 vacancies for Persons with Disabilities. The category-wise break-up of vacancies is as follows:

2) Pay package:
The compensation per annum (for Probationary Officers posted at Mumbai) is around Rs. 8,40,000 per annum. The break up of monthly compensation is as under:

Cash Component Rs. 34,320
Bank's contribution to PF Rs. 1,690
Housing (Lease Rental) Rs. 29,500
Perquisites, etc. Rs. 4,130

The compensation at other locations will be slightly lower.


3) Eligibility criteria:
Academic Qualifications: Graduation in any discipline from a recognized University or any equivalent qualification recognized as such by the Central Government is the minimum requirement for Probationary Officers. Aspirants who are in the final year of their graduation/semester may also apply provisionally, subject to the condition that, if called for interview, they will have to produce proof of having passed the graduation examination on or before 10.08.2014.

Age Limit: Not below 21 years and not above 30 years as on 01.04.2014, i.e. candidates must have been born not earlier than 02.04.1984 and not later than 01.04.1993 (both days inclusive).

4) Number of chances:
General category candidates who have appeared on 4 occasions in the recruitment examination of POs for SBI are not eligible to apply. In respect of General & General (PWD), OBC & OBC (PWD) candidates, chances will be counted from the examination held on 18.04.2010.

7) Selection Process:
The SBI PO selection process is a two-phase process.

Phase 1 of the Examination consists of Objective Tests of 200 marks and a Descriptive Test of 50 marks. The Objective Test will be online. The Descriptive Test, which will be in paper-pen mode, will be administered immediately after the online Objective Test.

Phase 2 comprises Group Discussion (20 marks) & Interview (30 marks). Only candidates who qualify Phase 1, as per criteria decided by the bank, will be called for Phase 2.

8) Written Exam Pattern:

Objective Test:
The Objective Test of 2-hour duration consists of 4 sections of 50 marks each (Total 200 marks) as follows:
a) Test of English Language (Grammar, Vocabulary, Comprehension etc.)
b) Test of General Awareness, Marketing & Computers
c) Test of Data Analysis & Interpretation
d) Test of Reasoning (High Level)
Candidates are required to qualify in each of these tests by securing passing marks, to be decided by the Bank.

Descriptive Test:
The Descriptive Test of 1-hour duration (50 marks) will be a Test of English Language (comprehension, short précis, letter writing & essay). Candidates are required to qualify in the Descriptive Test by securing passing marks, to be decided by the Bank. Note that the Descriptive Test paper of only those candidates will be evaluated who have scored qualifying marks in the objective tests and are placed adequately high as per total marks in the objective tests.

9) Exam Dates (Tentative):
The examination will be held in the month of June 2014 (tentatively). Some sources suggest that the exam may be conducted on 14th, 15th, 21st, 22nd, 28th, and 29th June. 

10) How to Apply:
Candidates are required to register themselves online through the bank's website www.statebankofindia.com or www.sbi.co.in. After registration, candidates may pay the requisite application fee either online or offline. Candidates should have a valid email ID that should be kept active till the declaration of results. It will help him/her in getting call letter/interview advices, etc. by email.
