As has been the tradition with us, we again proved to be bang on in predicting the cut off for CSP 2013. Our prediction was 240 marks for general category students and the actual cutoff (according to UPSC) was 241 !!!
For the first time in the history of the prelim exam, UPSC has declared 30 marks as cutoff for GS Paper 1 and 70 marks as cut off for GS Paper II(CSAT). This endorses the view point that at least 15 questions should be correct in Paper 1, which majority of serious candidates can achieve with ease. Regarding CSAT, its increasing importance has been confirmed by the cutoff of 70 marks (double of that of GS Paper 1).
Another noteworthy point is that one (irrespective of the category one belongs to) has to score a minimum of 10% in each of the 7 papers in Main examination. This has been explicitly announced by UPSC for the first time.
