LIC AAO Generalist (Online) 2015 Exam Analysis (15th March, 2015 - Afternoon Slot)

The Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) conducted online examination for the recruitment of Assistant Administrative Officers across the country on 15th March 2015.

There were 160 questions in the paper, which had to be answered in 2 hours. There were five sections in all - Reasoning, English Language, Quantitative Aptitude, General Knowledge and Computer Knowledge. All the other sections except English Language section were available bilingually, that is, in both English and Hindi. Each question had 5 options. There was negative marking of one-fourth or 0.25 of the marks assigned to that question for all the sections.

English Language test is of qualifying nature and the marks in English Language will not be counted for ranking.

The pattern of the test was as follows:

Reasoning
This section primarily saw moderate level of questions. A student should have attempted at least 20 questions. Some of the questions were time consuming. There were questions on Linear Sitting Arrangement, Circular Arrangement, Analytical Reasoning, Syllogism and Critical Reasoning. The detailed break up of questions is as follows -

English Language
There was one Reading Comprehension passage with 10 questions. The passage was a difficult read and can be easily skipped. There were 5 questions each on sentence correction, Synonyms, Fill in the blanks (2 in each question) and Error spotting. There was a cloze passage of 10 questions which was the only thing which was an easy take.

An attempt of 22 questions can be considered as a good attempt.

Quantitative Aptitude
In general, this section was of moderate difficulty level. This section has questions from Number Series, Data Sufficiency, Approximation and Data Interpretation that include Pie Chart, Line Chart. The DI questions were relatively difficult in comparison to other IBPS Exams.

A well prepared would have attempted 20 questions easily in this section.

Computer Knowledge
This section comprised questions of easy level based on basic knowledge of the computers like input -output devices, Internet, operating system, etc.
An attempt of 25 questions can be considered as a good attempt.

General Knowledge and Current Affairs
This section was also not very difficult as it was mostly dominated by current affairs, economy, insurance industry, etc. One could have easily attempted 22-24 questions in this section.
