RBI Grade B Officers Phase II Exam - Analysis September 19th, 2016



RBI Grade B Officers (Phase II) Exam - 2016 was conducted on September 19, 2016. Only the candidates who were shortlisted on the basis of results of Phase-I could appear in this exam. The examination was in two shifts. Candidates were required to appear for both the shifts.

Each question in Paper I and Paper III had five options. An incorrect answer will reduce a candidate’s score by 1/4 of the marks allotted to the question.

Phase II online examination consisted of three papers as under:

An interesting thing to note in section 1 was passages were provided to establish the context of the question. It was stated that questions can be answered using information from passages as well as overall knowledge of subject. In section 2 questions were straight and quiet factual in nature.

Paper II:
There were only 3 questions in this paper. First question required the candidates to write an essay (40 marks, only 200 words allowed), second question was to write a precis (30 marks, 170 words) and question 3 was reading comprehension (30 marks) having six questions out of which only 5 were to be attempted.

 

Paper III:
Paper III again was divided into 2 sections. Look at the table below:

Candidates were allowed to use non programmable electronic calculators in Paper III.

Questions based on Finance were from the areas like time value of money, bond valuations ratio Analysis, break even analysis in simple production problems etc. Several numerical questions were also asked.

In management, the questions were based on corporate governance, basic management principles, marketing management, human resource management, motivation and leadership. The difficulty level was quiet high in this paper.

As a result, the cut-off is expected to drop this year.
