School Test Prep: Engineering >> Arc

Arc, the engineering preparatory division of Career Launcher began in Mumbai in 1995 with a small batch of 30 students. Today, every third individual from Maharashtra to get a call from IIT is an Arc student! Arc has successfully trained more than 1500 students in Delhi, Mumbai and Dubai.

The Arc Method

Simplified Approach

De-jargonized Teaching: Glamorous scientific terminology simply confuses a student. Our teaching technique involves making concepts look simple. After all, this is what a teacher is supposed to do!

Constant Repetition: Every lecture is repeated at least once and topic wise revision classes are conducted by senior subject experts. Eight months into the program, two months are kept aside purely for revising what was covered from the start.

Approachable Mentors: No need to hesitate. Our faculty is always available for doubt-clearing, problem-solving and counseling. Students are actively encouraged to contact their mentors wherever and whenever possible.

Attitude: Leave any fear of failing, outside the classroom. Remember, IIT-JEE is merely different, not difficult. The one who thinks, conquers.

Undying Motivation: Periodic motivational sessions are conducted for all students by known personalities or present/ex-IIT-ians. Attendance is compulsory! In addition, we conduct special 4-hour sessions for successful JEE takers, focusing on how to choose a stream of specialization in IIT.

Constant Evaluation

30-minute tests: To ensure that you remain totally in sync with class activities at all times, we conduct weekly 30-minute tests. These are not of the IIT level, rather are based on what was taught in the past week itself. A score less than 15 in any of these 20-mark tests implies that preparation at home requires more diligence. Feedback is regularly conveyed to each student.

Report Card: A comparative analysis of your performance is sent to you by post once every three months. This Report Card contains not only your performance but also that of your fellow students. Parents and students can simply log on to the Student Information System on www.careerlauncher.com to view the results of all the weekly as well as 2-hour Full-Length Tests.

Planned Pedagogy

In-depth understanding: At Arc, each topic is introduced in the depth and width it deserves with respect to its scope in IIT-JEE. This is followed by exhaustive numerical problem-solving exercises on these topics. Students are encouraged to first try on their own without the professors' assistance.

Interaction: We encourage students to interact among themselves in and outside the class. Mutual interaction leads to various results that they arrive at. We analyze all their results and then try to rectify mistakes if any.

Easy Pace: You will never find yourself studying more than one difficult topic simultaneously. For example, when dealing with Rotational Dynamics in Physics - a seemingly tough section - we will take up a simpler topic in Chemistry like Inorganic Chemistry. Similarly, while tackling Organic Chemistry, Maths will seem easier with Limits and Differentials. This helps students to maintain interest in every thing they learn.

Technological Support
The use of technology promises a lively learning experience with 40% of the sessions conducted by the best faculty across multiple locations, via satellite. Here's how technology can positively impact your preparation:

Best Teachers: Every child gets the attention of subject specialists from across the country! The exposure for each student, not only in terms of attending lectures but also knowing how students across many locations react to certain concepts, is truly rewarding.

Wired Classroom: The use of the Internet for classroom learning at the study centers promotes instant and direct interaction with the teacher regarding doubts and problems.

Testing and self-assesment: For students who are 'hungry' for more, our online question bank offers more than 5,000 sets of questions on various topics and at different levels of difficulty to be solved within a specified timeframe. One can then test oneself at the IIT and AIEEE level. These testing facilities are over and above the regular classroom tests.

Visual Learning: Imagine seeing the actual tetrahedral structure of a carbon compound instead of having to imagine it and then solve problems in Organic Chemistry! Animations, graphics and three-dimensional figures make this possible. This nationally successful model of visual learning works on the scientifically proven principle - if you can see it happen, instead of simply reading about it, you will retain it for a longer time period (up to 35% longer).
