Staff Selection Commission (Combined Graduate Level) Tier I Examination 2016 - September 08, Slot I Analysis

SSC CGL Tier-I 2016 exam was flagged off on August 27, 2016. The exam is scheduled to be conducted in three time slots. For the first time, the Staff Selection commission (SSC) has introduced a Computer based Test (CBT) of 100 objective type questions to be answered in 75 minutes.


There are four sections, namely, General Intelligence & Reasoning, General Awareness, Quantitative Aptitude and English Comprehension consisting of 25 questions each. All sections, except the English Comprehension section are available bilingual i.e. in both Hindi and English medium. Every correct answer will fetch 2 marks and 0.50 marks will be deducted for each wrong answer. No marks will be deducted for unanswered questions.

General Intelligence and Reasoning
The level of difficulty of this section was easy except one based on triangle counting, one on meaningful order and two puzzles which were time consuming and little ambiguous. The questions in this section were similar to last year and the options could easily be eliminated to reach the correct answer.

General Awareness
This section was moderate to difficult. Overall, the paper was on the same pattern as last year but it comprised of few indirect & tricky questions in each sections. The paper was dominated by good science questions.

Quantitative Aptitude
The section comprised of questions from a variety of topics. Unlike last year, it was dominated by Arithmetic, Algebra, Trigonometry and DI. However, it had two wrong questions one each from Geometry and Algebra.
