TISNNET is an online entrance exam that is conducted by Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) for admission to PG programs offered in TISS campuses located in Mumbai, Tuljapur, Guwahati, and Hyderabad.

  • The registrations for TISSNET 2024 are expected to begin in the second week of December 2023.

Based on the previous year, the syllabus is divided into 3 major sections which are English Proficiency, Mathematics & Logical Reasoning and General Awareness. Given below are the main topics that should be covered when preparing for TISSNET

English Proficiency

The goal of this section is to test the proficiency of the candidate in reading, writing and comprehending English. Here are the main topics in this section:

Mathematics and Logical Reasoning

Much like the English Proficiency section, this section is also limited to the syllabus of class 10th with the aim to test the quantitative and logical reasoning skills of the students. The major topics covered are as followed:

General Awareness

The only section of TISSNET that has a sectional cutoff, General Awareness focuses on the candidate’s awareness regarding developmental, social-political and current issues. This section can include subjects including, but not limited to:

Following the pattern of TISSNET 2023, the exam will consist of 100 MCQ-type questions divided into 3 broad sections. The syllabus for the English proficiency and mathematical & logical reasoning sections is limited to class X while the General Awareness focuses on topics of current affairs, social issues, and political awareness.

TISSNET Exam Pattern

TISSNET Admit Card

The TISSNET admit card is an important document that has to be carried to the examination hall. Without the TISSNET admit card and photo ID proof, candidates will not be allowed to enter the hall or appear for the exam.

For candidates who successfully registered for the TISSNET exam, the admit card will be available from the second week of February 2024. To download the admit card, candidates must log in to the official website with their registration credentials.

TISSNET Exam Analysis 2023

TISSNET 2023 was conducted on 25th February 2023 and it did not throw any surprises with the paper pattern following the format given on the official website. The questions were from three sections: General Awareness (40 Questions), English Proficiency (30 Questions), and Mathematics & Logical Reasoning (30 Questions).

Overall, the paper was easy to moderate and was along similar lines as last year's in terms of the level of difficulty. The cut-off for open-category students is expected to be about 65 marks.

Candidates who have completed a Bachelor's or Master's Degree of a minimum of 3 or 4 years duration or its equivalent from a university recognized by UGC. Final-year students can also apply for the TISSNET examination.

As TISSNET is held only once every year, candidates can only appear once for the exam.

The registration window for TISSNET 2024 will tentatively begin in the second week of December 2023 and go on till the last week of January 2024.
