ACCA full qualification requires to pass 13 examinations divided into

1. Applied Knowledge exams provides a broad understanding of essential accounting techniques

  • ACCA F1 Accountant in Business

2. The Applied Skills exams builds existing knowledge and understanding developing strong, broad and practical finance skills.

3. Strategic Professional exams give the opportunity to specialise in areas that best suit one’s career ambitions.
The Professional level requires to undertake 4 exams which includes two compulsory modules and two further courses from the options to choose.

The ACCA full Professional qualification is regarded as the equivalent of a taught UK master's degree by the UK NARIC and Department of Education. Subjects include financial accounting, management accounting, financial reporting, taxation, company law, audit and assurance and financial management.

The most important difference between them is that CA is a local qualification, granted in India by ICAI, a professional body of Chartered Accountants, whereas ACCA is an international qualification, or a global professional degree. CA from ICAI allows a person to practice as a Chartered Accountant in India, while ACCA allows a person to practice as a Chartered Accountant globally.

To qualify as an ACCA member, you will need to complete:
Exams - a minimum of four of 13 exams (nine are eligible for exemption)
Experience - record 36 months' experience in a relevant role. (Earned before, during or after completing exams)
Ethics - the Professional Ethics module.

To enrol onto the ACCA Qualification at Fundamentals level you need a relevant secondary school education covering five separate subjects, which must include English and maths, the students who have completed 10+2.

Everyone moves through their ACCA studies at different speeds, although typically students will take around one and half year to two years when studying on a full-time basis, and two to three years if studying part-time.
In one year, a student can appear for 8 exams and there are 13 exams required to be undertaken to become an ACCA affiliate.

A prospective student can enrol in ACCA qualification after completing

  • 10+ 2 ( No exemptions, Need to pass 13 papers)
  • BBA (Gets 1 paper exemption, Need to pass 12 papers)
  • B.Com (Gets 4 papers exemption, Need to pass 9 papers)
  • IPCC (Gets 5 papers exemption, Need to pass 8 papers)
  • CA (Gets 9 papers exemption, Need to pass 4 papers)

The exemption can be verified from the exemption database of ACCA and depends on the degree & institution of the student.

ACCA conducts four exam sessions a year at all exam centres in March, June, September and December. One can choose exam centre at any location around the world, there are more than 350 exam centres globally.

One can also opt for On-demand Computer Based Examinations -CBEs (F1 to F4)–these exams can be undertaken any time of the year.

A student is required to submit copies of the following:

  • Official educational documents e.g. completion certificates and transcripts detailing the modules studied
  • Proof of identity (copy of birth certificate / passport / National ID Card or driver's licence)
  • Passport-style photograph

  • On-demand CBEs and
  • Session CBEs.
