Graphic Era Deemed to be University is the culmination of the dream of its founder, Prof (Dr) Kamal Ghanshala, to change the destiny of youth by providing a holistic professional education. This vision took a concrete shape in the form of Graphic Era Institute in 1996, which also achieved the distinction of being the first Self-financed educational institute in North India. In 2008, the Institute was accorded the status of Deemed University by the Ministry of Human Resource Development and in 2015, it was accredited by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with grade ‘A’.
Situated in the foothills of the Lesser Himalayas, the university presents an ideal environment to foster learning and stimulate creativity. This university offers a host of multi-disciplinary programs ranging from engineering, applied & life sciences, management, commerce, law, hospitality to animation, fashion designing, humanities, journalism, and mass communication, in sync with the dynamic interests and aspirations of youth.
Graphic Era (Deemed to be University) has been conferred All-India NIRF Rank 89 in the Engineering Category, thus being accorded as the highest-ranked Engineering University in Uttarakhand, after IIT Roorkee, in the MHRD NIRF (National Institutional Ranking Framework) Rankings in June 2020. The University has also been awarded All India Rank 97 in the University Category, establishing GEU as the highest-ranked university in Uttarakhand amongst all Government and Private universities in the state of higher education.
