What should be studied for the CUET
English test?
CUET
is a National level entrance test and the competition in the test is huge. To
score better and increase your chances of selection to your dream college,
comprehensive preparation is required.
CUET
is broadly divided into three sections, Language, Domain subjects, and General
Tests. Among all the languages listed in Section 1, English is the most widely
chosen subject. English test assesses a candidate’s proficiency in the
language, grammar knowledge, and comprehension skills.
For
students who are planning to opt and sit for the CUET English test, here are
some key areas that they should focus on briefly. These are:
- Firstly, build a good vocabulary. This can be done by
reading various sources such as newspapers, magazines, and books to learn
new words and their meanings. You should then practice using these words
in sentences to reinforce your understanding. - Reading the newspaper will help you improve your
vocabulary, grammar, and reading comprehension skills. You can refer to
the Hindu or the Times of India newspapers to improve your English
language. - You should revise grammar rules like parts of speech,
tenses, articles, prepositions, para jumbles, conjunctions, etc. - Another important area to focus on is Reading Comprehension
(RC). Practice reading comprehension passages and answering questions
based on them, with a particular focus on understanding the main idea,
supporting details, tone, and style of the passage. - Lastly, you can solve various mock CUET test papers to
build your skills and practice.
