EY CAFTA Case Championship 2021

Case studies are a great way to enable better learning. They enhance the teaching and testing of practical knowledge.

CAFTA is coming up with its 2 nd edition of an annual, national case study competition to engage with undergraduate and postgraduate students and provide them an outlet to explore this differentiated method of learning. As the industry navigates their way around challenging business problems, CAFTA has identified unique, high priority problem statements that demand solution and insights and has brought them to the student space.

As a unique approach, during CAFTA Case Championship, the participants will be first upskilled in thestream they chose and then they’ll be expected to get propose strategic corporate actions backed up with in-depth research of the organization and the market conditions.

Eligibility

  • All students currently pursuing any UG degree or equivalent or who have graduated in 2021**.
  • All students currently pursuing any PG degree or equivalent or who have graduated in 2021**.

Participation Streams

Participants can choose 1 or more streams to participate in where they’ll be upskilled and then expected to solve the case study presented to them relevant to the stream. There are 6 streams of participation (details of each stream can be found in the brochure) -

Basic Streams

  • Basics of Risk Management
  • Basics of Global Financial Markets
  • Managing Risk & Return through Financial Instruments

Advanced Streams

  • Managing Investments
  • Mitigating Financial Risk
  • Optimizing Funding Options

Registration Fee

Basic Stream

  • Team of 1 member: 2,000 (inclusive of GST)
  • Team of 2 members: 3,000 (inclusive of GST)

Advanced Stream

  • Team of 1 member: 3,500 (inclusive of GST)
  • Team of 2 members: 5,000 (inclusive of GST)

  • This is a unique case competition because other than participating and competing with the best minds, you will be getting EY CAFTA's Certificate of Participation in your chosen stream. This will reflect that you have gone through advanced learning material and received training by EY professionals pertaining to that stream.

A case is a written description of a business challenge or opportunity, typically involving a real business case, in need of a new strategic direction. Case competitions make this method of learning more realistic by challenging you to work and think in a problem-solution direction.

If you are an undergraduate student across any stream at the time of registration or a postgraduate student at the time of registration, from any stream, you are eligible to participate in the case championship. It is also open to the students who have currently graduated in the year 2021.

Registrations for both basic and advance stream open on 23 August 2021.

In our module on financial risk management, we show certain aspects through Bloomberg screen. However, Bloomberg access is not provided to participants. As part of the course, we cover concepts of technology including AI in Finance. We teach participants to use Alteryx and Power BI tools which are used for data manipulation and visualisation.

Registration amount for a team of two:

  • For Basic stream: 3,000
  • For Advance Stream: 5000

The above amount can be paid under "team" category by either of the team member on the registration portal.
