CAT Syllabus: Understand the Basics

CAT is a well-known and highly competitive MBA entrance exam that is held every year for admission to the top B-schools across the country. The CAT exam syllabus comprises all the fundamental topics of mathematics, English, and reasoning. The questions from the three areas are prepared in a manner to assess a student's decision making skills, time management skills, and logical abilities.
CAT 2023 Sections
Before diving deeper into CAT preparation, it’s essential to understand the exam syllabus. The CAT syllabus is split into three sections:
> Verbal Ability & Reading Comprehension (VARC) - With a focus on English, the VARC section, comprises topics like grammar, verbal reasoning, para summary, and reading comprehension.
> Data Interpretation & Logical Reasoning (DILR) - The DILR section includes topics that need analytical understanding of data illustrated in the form of Venn diagrams, pie charts, tables, and bar graphs.
> Quantitative Ability (QA) - The QA section is focused on school-level mathematics. The most common topics appearing in the exam include arithmetic, geometry, algebra, trigonometry, and mensuration.
