TISSNET 2020 was conducted on 4th January 2020. The exam was conducted in one slot from 2 pm to 3:40 pm across multiple cities. The newly introduced TISSMAT exam followed shortly after TISSNET and it was a 30-minute paper.
Both TISSNET and TISSMAT were computer-based tests with no negative marking in TISSNET. The total duration of the TISSNET was 100 minutes for 100 questions.
The paper consisted of three sections viz. General Awareness (40 Questions), English Proficiency & Language skills (30 Questions), and Mathematical Reasoning & Quantitative Abilities (30 Questions).
TISSNET did not break its trend and GK continued to be a difficult section of the paper. Apart from just some 5-6 questions on Current Affairs, the remaining 24-25 questions were from static GK. The English Proficiency & Language skills section was comparatively easier even if you take into consideration the slightly difficult vocabulary that was a part of the section. Mathematical Reasoning & Quantitative Abilities section was a sitter and was undoubtedly the most scoring section of the paper.
Overall, the paper was on similar lines as last year in terms of the level of difficulty. The cut off for open category students is expected to be in the range of 72-76 marks.
The in-depth section wise analysis is as follows:
With just about 5-6 current affairs questions, this section continued to be the toughest of the three. For most of the questions the students had to know their GK in detail which made it tougher to solved.
A student should have attempted all the questions with 70% accuracy. A score of 18-22 out of 40 should be ideal for this section.

The section had a total of 30 questions with 23 from Quant, 7 from Data Interpretation, and surprisingly none from Reasoning. This entire section was a sitter and a well-prepared student should have been able to solve most of these questions with ease.
In this section, Arithmetic dominated like last year. The DI section was dominated by charts. The charts that came were Pie-Charts and Table charts. The questions were extremely straight forward. One could have applied the basic formulas and solved these. A score of 27-28 will be considered a good score in this section.

This section was much easier than last year. It had 30 questions. Fill in the blank questions dominated the section. There were no questions on idioms, one-word substitutions and analogy this year. The grammar questions were straightforward. There was just one odd one out question. There were a few questions on synonyms and antonyms.
There were two passages one with four questions and the other with five questions. The questions were mostly factual. The options were easy to eliminate. Hence, a student should have got most of the questions correct in this section. A student can expect to score 24-25 in this section.

The overall cut-off is mostly likely to remain in the same range of 72-76 marks for general category candidates. For SC/ST candidates, the same is estimated to be around 64-66 marks.

The questions were level-1 Reading comprehension questions. Again, these were factual in nature, mostly. One could have sailed through this section with a decent level of preparation.
These were Level-1 DI questions, like the ones you would expect on the first page of a book on DI. Students could have solved these easily after having practiced for exams like CAT, IIFT, XAT and NMAT.
This was an out of and GK paper but you had to have a really good knowledge of the things happening in the business world for you to be able to answer these questions. Naturally, student who would have suffered in GK in TISSNET will also suffer here in this section.
