Tips to prepare on GD/PI/WAT

I divided my preparation into three parts. 1) Group discussion/ Case discussion: 2) WAT 3) PI 1) Group/ Case Discussion, Group Exercise: During this round, B-school assesses students on the basis of confidence, communication, and team-building skills. To work on building confidence during GD, I started reading current affairs. During this, it is important to understand both the positive and negative effects of the event so as to put forward a new and logical point during Group discussion. Remember, Content is a king, the more you aware the more you will have, to express. For communication and team-building skills, I have participated in several mock GD/ CD sessions and worked on the points highlighted by the mentors. Common things that one needs to aware of are: - Whether to Start or not? - When to Pitch in your views without interrupting fellow participants - Presentation of thoughts - Body language For the case discussion and group exercise what matters the most is that ideas suggested by you should be logical and practical enough for the implementation. It should cover all the aspects of the case. Try to give an ethical solution that is a win-win for all the involved parties. 2) WAT WAT checks the candidate on the ability that if he can collect all his thoughts and structure them in a flow in stipulated time and space on any topic. In WAT it is important to give structure. For this, I practiced writing WAT and timing myself. For structure, introduce the topic, state your standpoint, analyze it through pros and cons and in last conclude it by proving your standpoint as stated in the introduction. Common things that one should aware: - Structure - All three components - Introduction, Body, Conclusion - Grammar and Spelling - Presentation - Segmenting the Body for different pros and cons, minimum cutting, etc. 3) PI Introspect is the key to the answer to most of the questions of PI like Why Mba, Strength, Weakness, Hobbies, short term plans, etc. For this, I practiced for the general questions with friends and gave several mock PIs. One should be confident, must be aware of what all written in his CV and maintain his calm in case of a grilling interview. - Shubham Rajawat (CAT'19 - CL Student)
