Empowering Ambitions: Career Launcher Malviya Nagar at Gargi College

It was an edge-of-the-seat day at Gargi College when Career Launcher Malviya Nagar had the privilege of organizing a seminar that raised curiosity, hope, and belief in young girls who were vying to do an MBA. It was an experiential workshop on not just the "how" of how to secure a place in a B-School but the "why" — why an MBA is one of the most career-defining moves in a student's life.

This is the complete report of the valuable insights and discussions that made this seminar a value-packed experience.

We started by posing ourselves the question that every aspirant ever asks at some point or another: Is an MBA worth it? And the response was in the tremendous possibilities that lie ahead of this degree. Whether it is finance and consulting, marketing, analytics, entrepreneurship, or even IT, an MBA provides students with the business and strategic knowledge that enables them to make their mark in any sector.

We also contrasted the Return on Investment (ROI). Although the initial investment in an MBA can be substantial, the payback down the road in salary increase, top management positions, and job mobility is several times greater than the cost. With careful planning and preparation for entrance exams, students can secure admission in B-Schools with great placements and influential alumni connections.

Our second segment was on the women of influence and the management education conference. As more organizations adopt inclusive leadership and gender diversity, now more than ever, women are well-placed to take up big roles in business.

We brushed against the reality that the highest levels of management are being filled with high-achieving, influential women. The seminar covered the potential and support being directly provided to women, such as diversity scholarships, mentoring, and campus programs creating female leadership in B-Schools.

Full-time MBA: Best for freshers and early working professionals who require career growth.

Executive MBA (EMBA): Best for working professionals who have some work experience of a couple of years and need upskilling or a career shift.

We assisted students in identifying which mode is appropriate for them according to their work timeline, study history, and long-term ambitions.

One of the major points of highlight of the seminar was when we took a walk through step by step of cracking exams such as CAT and getting admission in highly ranked institutions. We covered:

Developing a preparation plan for entry exams (CAT, XAT, SNAP, NMAT).

MBA in India is comparatively less costly and has a formal entry path through tests like CAT, with the best-of-the-best B-Schools being the IIMs, FMS, and SPJIMR.

MBA abroad usually demands the GMAT and considerable work experience, but provides international exposure and an opportunity to establish international networks.

We assisted visitors in balancing their preferences, budget, and career objectives to make the most suitable decision for them.
