Are you preparing for CLAT and AILET 2026? If yes, then you already know both exams are in December 2025, just a few days apart. Many law aspirants write both these exams to increase their chances of getting into a top law school like NLU Delhi, NLSIU Bangalore, or NALSAR Hyderabad.
But the big question is:
How to prepare for both CLAT and AILET at the same time?
Don't worry. In this blog, I'll explain everything in very simple words, so you can study smart and crack both exams with confidence.
First, Know the Basics
What is CLAT?
CLAT is the Common Law Admission Test for admission into 24 National Law Universities (NLUs) across India. It tests your:
lEnglish
lGK and Current Affairs
lLegal Reasoning
lLogical Reasoning
lQuantitative Techniques
What is AILET?
AILET is the All India Law Entrance Test conducted by NLU Delhi, which does not accept CLAT scores. AILET tests:
lEnglish
lGK including Current Affairs
lLogical Reasoning
Note: AILET does not have Maths and has more focus on Logical Reasoning.
Similarities Between CLAT and AILET
lBoth are held in December
lBoth have English, GK, and Logical Reasoning
lBoth are for 5-Year BA LLB courses
lBoth are offline exams (pen & paper)
lBoth require strong reading and reasoning skills
How to Prepare for CLAT & AILET Together?
1. Build Common Concepts First
Since both exams have English, GK, and Logical Reasoning, your base preparation will be the same.
lRead the newspaper daily (prefer The Hindu)
lPractice reading comprehension and vocabulary
lLearn daily current affairs with focus on legal news
lSolve logical puzzles, assumptions, inferences
2. Add AILET Focus from September
From September onwards, start solving AILET-specific mocks. AILET has:
lMore direct questions in GK
lNo Legal Reasoning or Maths
So adjust your plan accordingly. Give more time to Logical and English after that.
3. Give Mock Tests Weekly
Alternate between CLAT and AILET mocks. For example:
Week 1 - CLAT mock
Week 2 - AILET mock
Analyze both and see how your time management and accuracy are improving.
4. Time Management is Key
Since both exams are just days apart, don't panic. Make a monthly planner and keep time for revision, mock analysis, and doubt-solving.
