XAT is termed to be one of the toughest Management entrance exams. Hence the cutoffs are achieved with low raw scores. If you are targeting XAT 2020 exam, then you have to understand how you can optimise your chances of getting a call from XLRI Jamshedpur. With a raw score of only 31.5 for Business Management program the percentile was around 96 %ile and at 30 it was 94 %ile for the HRM program. So if you want to optimise your scores to clear the cutoffs in XAT 2020 you need to attempt around 50 to 55 questions with accuracy as high as 90 %. If see the sectionwise attempts and target scores , then in VA & LR section you need to attempt around 17 to 18 questions. More specifically it should be around 4 to 5 questions of RC and around 12 to 13 questions from verbal logic area which mainly comprises of critical reasoning questions, fill in the blanks, parajumbles with options , sentence corrections and sentence completion. In Decision Making section two types of questions are asked. One of behavioural or situation based and the other is analytical or mathematical based which are tougher to solve in the time limit. Is you attempt around 12 to 15 questions it is sufficient to clear the section cutoff. In QA and DI the level over the last two years have decreased hence an attempt of 12 to 13 questions from QA and around 4 to 6 questions from DI would be suggested. If you get a score of 10 ,10 and 15 in the three sections respectively you would definitely clear both the sectionwise and overall cutoffs. If you are looking for 99 %ile then a score of 40 and for 99.99%ile a score of 50 plus is required.
