  • Failing of nerves
  • Captain's innings from both the sides

What more u want! Deepika? The catchphrase is apt for the game.

Australian Innings

Thomas Cottarel and Russell bowled in the vintage style of chin music and Australia was reeling at 38/4 and it looked over. However, at 79/5, even Smith's resolve was being broken. Here walked Alex Carrey and he attacked. Now West Indies was exposed, they do not have a quality spinner and they paid the price for the same. The masterstroke came when Coulter-Nile was sent ahead of Cummins and the way he attacked. 92 runs in 60 balls. No no. 8 has achieved this feat. The result was 288/ in 49 overs. A respectable score to defend.

West Indies batting

Fall of 2 early wickets including Gayle was countered by Pooran and Shai Hope, but Zampa with his googly turned the tide. He brought down the run rate which accounted for a suicidal shot by Pooran. To Add to misery Hetmyer's run out gave a verdict that it is not West Indies day.

Out came Holder at no. 6 to play the Captain's innings and he kept them in the fray. We must appreciate the role of Finch in putting pressure by keeping close in fielders to stop singles and keep Cummins or Starc at one end to take wickets. The strategy paved the wickets of Russell, Braithwaite and Shai Hope. They all perished trying to force the run rate.

Positive for Australia.

They can trust Zampa, belief in the lower order for their batting. Biggest gain is the rise of Starc's confidence to take wickets. The opposition needs to fear that especially India on 9th.

Positives for West Indies

Belief in their bowling. They can put up a total without Gayle and Russell. The nurse can not take wickets and fielding needs to be upped.

Turning point

Run out of Hetmyer. He had the capability to blunt Starc and Cummins. 5 wickets of Starc wouldn't have taken place but for his run out and Maybe West Indies would have won the game.
