About Sikkim University

Sikkim University was established in 2006 by an Act of Parliament, with an objective to strengthen the close link of education to skill development and the making the youth of Sikkim educated, skilled and employable, giving them the capacity to harness diverse opportunities both within and outside Sikkim. Sikkim University is NAAC accredited with "B" grade and was ranked 61 in NIRF 2021.

Sikkim University is in Gangtok and was established with a mission to provide quality higher education. The University offers admissions to candidates at UG, PG, MPhil, and PhD levels in the streams of Humanities & Social Sciences, Science, Accounting & Commerce, Mass Communication & Media, Law, Business & Management Studies and Hospitality & Travel.

Sikkim University UG Programs

Sikkim University UG Programs Eligibility:

Bachelor of Arts (BA):

Candidates should have passed the 10+2 pattern with 45 % marks from any recognized board of education and CUET.
Candidates should have passed the 10 + 2 pattern with 45% marks from any recognized board of education and CUET

Bachelor of Science(B.sc):

Candidates should have passed the 10 + 2 pattern with 40% marks from any recognized board of education and CUET.
Candidates should have studied Physics, Chemistry and Biology / Home Science as compulsory subjects in their previous qualifying examination

Bachelor of Performing Arts(BPA) :

Candidates should have passed the 10 + 2 pattern with 40% marks from any recognized board of education.
Candidates should have studied English as a compulsory subject in their previous qualifying examinations.

Sikkim University UG Admissions:

Candidates can apply at Sikkim University in an online mode by filling and submitting the application form on the official website of the varsity. After filling the form, candidates also need to pay the application fee either in the online (using Credit Card/Debit Card/Net Banking) or offline (via SBI Challan) mode. The application fee for UG courses is mentioned below:

Sikkim University UG Programs Reservation:

Sikkim University offers reservations in admissions according to central government rules.

Schedule Caste (SC): 7% of the total seats are reserved for students who belong to SC category.
Schedule Tribe (ST): 13% of the total seats are reserved for students belonging to ST Category.
Other Backward Classes (OBC): 20% of the total intake is reserved for students from Other Backward Classes (OBC), excluding those from creamy layer. Also, Central List of Caste to be followed.
Economically Weaker Section (EWS): The University has reserved 10% seats for the EWS category, in accordance with the directive of the Ministry of Education.
Persons with Disability (PWD): 5% of the seats are reserved for students from PWD category.

The University has ten affiliated colleges in Sikkim. It has six schools named as School of Social Sciences, Life Sciences, Physical Sciences, Languages and Literature, Human Sciences and Professional Studies and thirty-two departments.
