Delhi University Joint Admission Test (DU JAT) 2020: Exam Analysis

The Joint Admission Test for admissions to Bachelor of Management Studies (BMS)/BBE and BFIA  2020 batch of DU was held today, September 7, 2020, in two time slots. The slots had different papers, which would be evaluated through the process of normalization, to ensure parity.

The exam was conducted by University of Delhi, in collaboration with the National Testing Agency (NTA); and the paper was administered in CBT (Computer-Based Test) mode. A total of 100 questions were to be attempted in the stipulated time period of 2 hours. Each question carried 4 marks; and there was a negative mark (1 mark) for each incorrect answer.

There was no section defined in the paper; and the questions were jumbled.

The questions were broadly from four areas: General Awareness, General English, Analytical & Logical Reasoning, and Quantitative Aptitude. Overall, the difficulty level of the paper was easy-moderate.

General Awareness

To the surprise of all, General Knowledge questions were quite limited; and covered current affairs only. There were just 10-12 questions based on GK, vis-à-vis 25 in the 2019 paper. Overall, the level of difficulty was easy. Based on awards, personalities, organizations, etc., every student must have felt comfortable answering the questions, except for the fact that the number of questions was lesser than expected.

General English

Similar to last year, the questions based on English were easy. With just one passage for reading-comprehension, students got enough time to work with other areas. The questions which followed the passage were direct and fact based. Questions on vocabulary and grammar were easy; and helped students save time for the other areas. This section didn’t require any special effort; and could have been completed within 15-20 minutes.
