Joint Admission Test, DU JAT 2017 Exam Analysis July 9, 2017



The Joint Admission Test for enrolment in Bachelor of Management Studies (BMS) 2017 was held on July 9, 2017 from 12 noon to 2pm. The exam was conducted by University of Delhi. This year, the paper was administered online. A total of 100 questions were to be attempted in the stipulated time period of 2 hours. Each question carried four marks and there was a negative mark of one mark for each incorrect answer.

There were a total of 5 sections out of which the first section was assorted. This section contained a total of 83 questions from different subjects. The 2nd section was LR 1 which had 4 questions on arrangements and the third section was LR-2 with one DI set having 4 questions based on it. The 4th section was LR-3 having one arrangement set of 5 questions and the last section was English passage that contained 4 questions.

There were broadly four sections of the paper, wiz General Awareness, General English, Analytical & Logical Reasoning and Quantitative Aptitude. Overall, the level of the paper was moderate.

General Awareness

Most of the questions in this section came from current affairs. Only three questions came from static GK. Overall, the level of difficulty in this section was Easy to Moderate.

General English

Section 5 of the test was on English. One Reading comprehension passage on Economics and Maps, Models was given in this section. The Reading Comprehension passage contained 4 questions. The topics that came in English comprised of Reading Comprehension, Spelling, Antonyms, Fill in the blanks (single), Idioms and Grammar. The grammar questions were in the format of fill in the blanks and covered topics such as tenses and prepositions. The antonyms were a little difficult. Most students would find the English section of this year’s paper doable. Barring a few questions, the overall the level of difficulty of the English section was moderate.

Quantitative Aptitude

Overall, the level of difficulty of the Quantitative Aptitude section was Moderate to Difficult.

The topics that were covered in this section were Set theory, Relation and Function, Limits, Coordinate Geometry, Geometry, Matrices ,Sequence and series, Probability, Logarithm, Statistics, Differentiation, Application of Integration and Equation/Inequality.
