One among the best colleges of engineering, Jadavpur University was established in 1955 in the cultural capital of India, Kolkata. The university has been approved by UGC, AICTE, NCTE and COA. Jadavpur University has been ranked 601-650 among the global Institutes by the GS World University Rankings of 2018 and 9th rank among the Indian engineering colleges by NIRF in 2019 rankings. Getting into Jadavpur University for B.Tech:

  • Candidates seeking admission for B.Tech or B.E. degree at Jadavpur University must have passed 10+2 with atleast 45% marks and having Physics, Chemistry and Math as subjects.
  • Candidates have to write WBJEE and the admission to these branches would depend on the WBJEE score. Also candidate should have a minimum age of 17 years as on December 31st of the year of admission

West Bengal Joint Entrance Exam Pattern:

The WBJEE is a 4 hour long examination conducted by West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination Board. It is a multiple choice question type examination conducted in offline mode. There are three sections in the exam details of which are given as:

There are three categories of questions each type having 1, 2 and 2 marks.

The categories 1 and 2 have only one correct answer type questions and answering a wrong question or answering more than one question would give a penalty of 1/4th of the marks.

In category 3, more than one answer may be correct and full marks will be given if candidate marks all the correct answers. However in case of partial correct answers without any wrong answer, the following formula will be applicable: {2*no. of correct answers marked/ total number of correct answers}

There will not be any negative marking in third section.

Candidates belonging to PwD category are entitled 20 more minutes for each paper.

 Tution Fee: 5710 per annum

Placements at Jadavpur University:

The Jadavpur University had been providing excellent placement opportunities to its students with more than 75 % in most of the branches. There were 100% placements in CSE, 94% in EE, 92.73% in Electronics and Telecommunication, 86.59% in Mechanical Engineering in 2018 to note a few.  The average CTC for CSE was 19.96 lpa, 7.5 lpa in EE, 9 lpa in Electronics and Telecommunication and 5.7 lpa in Mechanical Engineering. The maximum CTC offered at Jadavpur University in 2018 was 42 Lpa. There had been more than 100 organisations who had taken part in its campus drive till now.
