Getting into NIT Trichy- Admissions

For all B.Tech programs- JEE Main

All the NIT aspirants have to sit for JEE Main. The candidates will be called for counseling based upon their AIR in JEE Main.

B.Tech admissions at NITs are done by JOSAA. Students after appearing for JEE Main must apply for counseling in JOSAA.

NIT Trichy Eligibility

Admission to NITs participating though Central Seat Allocation Board will be based on All India Rank subject to the condition that the candidate should have secured at least 75% marks in the 12th class examination with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects along with one of the Chemistry / Biotechnology / Biology / Technical Vocational subject; or be in the top 20 percentile in the 12th class examination conducted by the respective Boards. For SC / ST candidates the qualifying marks would be 65% in the 12th class examination.
JEE eligibility criteria apply to all the NITs for admissions to their undergraduate programs. Based upon their score and rank in the JEE Advanced exam, shortlisted candidates are called for counseling.

Eligibility criteria for JEE is as follows:

  •  Students who are born on or after October 1, 1992 are eligible to apply. Candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST) and Persons with Disabilities (PwD) have been given a relaxation of 5 years.
  •  Aspiring candidates should have appeared for the Class XII (or equivalent) examination for the first time in either 2016 or 2017.
  •   The candidates must have secured at least 75% marks or be in the top 20 percentile in the 12th Class Examination conducted by respective boards. For SC/ST students, there shall be a relaxation of 5% in this criterion.
  •   Aadhar card is mandatory for all the Indian citizens who are taking JEE.

NIT Trichy admission procedure

B.Tech admission at NIT Trichy is done through online counseling. Counseling organized by the college is held for those candidates who are shortlisted through the screening process on the basis of marks obtained by the candidate in JEE. After the allotment of seat candidates need to submit the requisite fee and required documents for verification.
