In the press conference held at Bannerghatta Road campus, Prof. Rishikesha T Krishnan shared the vision and intent behind the launch.
“Our vision is to nurture critical thinkers and problem solvers capable of driving positive change. To actualize this vision, we believe it is important to engage young learners early; familiarize them with the intricacies of emerging and unfamiliar markets, and equip them with analytical, contextual, and ethical perspectives”.
This course is designed to align with the National Education Policy, commonly known as NEP 2020 by offering a three-year exit option and a degree plus minors in Business and a complementary major setup.
Throwing back to nearly a decade ago, the genesis finds its roots in a discussion to combine the shortage of high-quality UG programmes in non-tech discipline catalyzed by Institutions of Eminence (IoE) scheme launched by the UGC to position select Indian institutions on the global map.
This uniquely and perfectly blended course of economics, data science, business, ethics, communication is not just a theory-oriented course but is focussed at providing real-world benefits with:
On employability of the programmes in a competitive market, Prof. Mukta Kulkarni said,
“We are looking at this from a practice/application point of view. Students will receive structured placement support. We have extensive industry and international connects, including over 100 institutional partnerships globally. Internships, exposure to core disciplines, and an exchange term are all integral components of the programme”.
The undergraduate program will be hosted at a new purpose-built IIM Bangalore campus, designed to reflect the values of openness, collaboration, sustainability, and tech-powered learning.
