For the 2026 cohort, IIM Bangalore admitted an initial cohort of 40 students per stream (combined 80 students across both programmes). The institute aims to scale to 640 students by 2031, subject to infrastructure development at the new purpose-built Jigani campus — located approximately 27 km from the Bannerghatta Road campus. The intake for the 2027 batch is yet to be officially confirmed.
Based on the 2026 cycle, candidates applying for the 2027 batch are expected to meet the following eligibility requirements:
Final eligibility criteria for the 2027 cycle will be confirmed in the official notification expected in July 2026.
The annual programme fee for the 2026 batch was 8.5 lakh per annum, covering tuition and hostel. Mess charges are billed separately. Twenty percent of the total programme cost is earmarked for need-based financial aid. Fees for the 2027 batch are subject to revision and will be confirmed in the official notification.
On July 14, 2025, IIM Bangalore officially released the notification and application for its inaugural UG cohort. The application window ran from October to November 2025, and the IIMB UG Admissions Test was conducted on December 13, 2025. The Final Result for the 2026 batch was declared on March 15, 2026, with offer letters made available on the official admissions portal at ugiimb.ac.in.
At the notification press conference held at the Bannerghatta Road campus, Director Prof. Rishikesha T. Krishnan articulated the vision behind the launch:
“Our vision is to nurture critical thinkers and problem solvers capable of driving positive change. To actualize this vision, we believe it is important to engage young learners early; familiarize them with the intricacies of emerging and unfamiliar markets, and equip them with analytical, contextual, and ethical perspectives.”.
Both programmes are designed in alignment with NEP 2020, incorporating a three-year exit option and a degree-plus-minors structure:
Students who complete three years and meet programme requirements exit with a standard BSc degree (120 credits). Completing all four years earns the full BSc (Hons) degree (160 credits).
The genesis of this initiative lies in addressing the shortage of high-quality undergraduate programmes in non-engineering disciplines — catalysed by the Institutions of Eminence (IoE) scheme launched by the UGC to position select Indian institutions competitively on the global map.
These programmes are not purely theoretical. The curriculum is built around real-world application, structured to include:
Two internships over the course of the four years
One study-abroad exchange term
Structured placement support leveraging IIMB's network of 100+ global institutional partnerships
Prof. Mukta Kulkarni, speaking at the 2025 launch, noted: "We are looking at this from a practice/application point of view. Students will receive structured placement support. We have extensive industry and international connects, including over 100 institutional partnerships globally. Internships, exposure to core disciplines, and an exchange term are all integral components of the programme."
The undergraduate programmes will be hosted at a new purpose-built campus in Jigani, designed around the values of openness, collaboration, sustainability, and technology-powered learning. Starting faculty strength is approximately 15 members, drawn from within IIM Bangalore and beyond.
These two programmes mark IIMB's entry into non-engineering undergraduate education. The institute has also indicated plans for future UG offerings in Behavioural Sciences and Sustainability Management.
