IPU B.Com CET Analysis

The Common Entrance Test (CET) for admission to B.Com in GGSIPU was conducted on 1st May 2016. The overall difficulty level of the paper was moderate. Since IP University did not give the question paper to the students, the following analysis is based on the feedback received from CL students who appeared for the examination.

The pattern of the paper was on expected lines with a total of 150 questions to be attempted in 150 minutes. Each correct answer was rewarded with +4 marks while each incorrect answer carried a penalty of -1 mark.

IPU B.Com CET Analysis: Logical Reasoning

This section was full of sitters. Questions based on Series, Odd man out were very easy to crack and most of the students did not take much time to arrive at the correct answers. Questions based on Percentages, Probability, Calendars, Number System, Time Speed and Distance and Perimeter and Area were also asked. The questions asked from Analogies were a bit difficult as compared to the rest of the section. An attempt of 25-30 questions can be considered as a good attempt here.

IPU B.Com CET Analysis: Language Comprehension

The difficulty level of this section was moderate. English Proficiency and Vocabulary dominated this section. There was 1 Reading Comprehension passages with 5 questions. In Vocabulary, questions on Synonyms, Antonyms were asked. 5-6 questions on Para Jumbles and 5-6 questions from One Word Substitution were also asked. An attempt of 32-35 is a good attempt in this section.

IPU B.Com CET Analysis: General Awareness

This section was a mixed bag of easy and moderate difficulty level questions. Most of the questions were static in nature and almost all the questions were one liner. This saved much needed time of the students. Questions were also asked from areas like Trade, Fifa, and People choice award. Around 12-15 is a good attempt in this section.

IPU B.Com CET Analysis: Data Interpretation

This section had 50 questions and took the maximum time to solve. There were 8 sets having 5 questions each and 10 questions were asked from Data Sufficiency. This section was very calculative and was moderate to difficult. Around 30-35 is a good attempt in this section.

Overall, the paper did not pose any difficulty to the students except the calculations in Data Interpretation section.
