About All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS)

All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Delhi is a medical college and medical research public university based in New Delhi, India. The Institute was established in 1956 and operates autonomously under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. The Institute has comprehensive facilities for teaching, research and patient-care. Teaching and research here are conducted in 42 disciplines. AIIMS offers various best-in-class medical graduation and post-graduation courses and awards degrees under its own name. AIIMS has been consistently ranked the top medical college in India. AIIMS now operates in seven more locations across the country namely Bhopal, Bhubaneshwar, Jhajjar, Patna, Raipur, Rishikesh and Jodhpur.

Getting into AIIMS - Admissions

The All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) New Delhi will conduct its own entrance examination - AIIMS MBBS 2017 on May 28 for admission to its MBBS program.

Candidates have to appear for the entrance test in accordance with the slot allotted to them. Now, AIIMS has increased the number of seats offered by 7, increasing the total number of MBBS seats to 707. The result will be declared for only those candidates securing the qualifying percentile as prescribed by the examination authority. The merit list will be prepared on the basis of candidate's score in the entrance exam. As per the rank in the merit list candidates will be called for counseling. Henceforth, the merit list candidates will be allotted a seat in any of the 7 AIIMS as per their percentile.


AIIMS Eligibility Criteria

All the candidates must fulfill the criteria given below before applying for AIIMS MBBS examination:

  • All the candidates must be of Indian origin.
  • Candidates belonging to Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) category should be registered under Section 7A of Indian Citizenship Act 1955 and they must submit their registration proof while applying for admissions.
  • Candidates applying for admission to AIIMS MBBS entrance examination should have completed a minimum of 17 years of age as on December 31, 2017.
  • Candidates should have appeared and passed class 12th board exam or equivalent examination recognised by AIIMS Delhi. It is mandatory for candidates to have studied Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English in class 11th-12th.
  • Candidates belonging to General and OBC categories should have secured a minimum of 60% aggregate marks in the above mentioned subjects while those belonging to SC, ST and OPH categories are entitled to a relaxation of 10%.

AIIMS 2017 Examination details

The all India entrance examination will be held on Sunday, 28th May, 2017 at various centres across the country in online mode only. It will be a computer based test to be conducted in two shifts- 9 am to 12:30 pm and 3 pm to 6:30 pm. The duration of the exam is 3 hours and 30 minutes.

The question paper will be composed of 200 Multiple Choice and Reason-Assertion type questions. For each correct response 1 mark will be given while each incorrect response will attract a penalty of 1/3 marks.
