About Railway Recruitment Board

Railway Recruitment Board is an organisation of Government of India, which works for the appointment of new employees to work in Indian railways. Railway Recruitment boards have several boards working for the appointment new employees and they are situated in different parts of India. There are 21 RBB's and they are RRB Ahemadabad, RRB Ajmer, RRB Allahabad, RRB Banglore, RRB Bhopal, RRB Bhubaneswar, RRB Bilaspur, RRB Chandigarh, RRB Chennai, RRB Gorakhpur, RRB Guwahati, RRB Jammu and Kashmir, RRB Kolkata, RRB Malda, RRB Mumbai, RRB Muzaffarpur, RRB Patna, RRB Ranchi, RRB Secunderabad, RRB Siliguri and RRB Thiruvantha-puram.

In the beginning of 2016, the Central Employment Notice came out. All the 21 RRBs will be participating in the recruitment process. The vacancies declared are for 9 different posts.They are-

  • There will be a common Computer Based Test (CBT) for all the posts. The test will be held during March-May2016. CL offers a test series for this Computer Based Test.
  • For more details,click here
  • For the post of JAA, Senior Clerk-cum-Typist and Senior Time Keeper, the Computer Based Test will be followed by a Typing Skill Test. The typing skill test will be qualifying in nature.
  • For the post of ASM and Traffic Assistant, the Computer Based Test will be followed by an aptitude test. For details of aptitude test, you can visit www.rdso.indianrailways.gov.in
  • A candidate may apply for one or more posts among the given posts, depending upon his eligibility but only from One Railway Recruitment Board or from one Zone.

  • While applying from any of the RRBs, the candidate will be asked to enter the preference of the posts, which are available in that particular RRB and as per his eligibility.
  • A candidate may appear for the examination from any of the available test centers irrespective of the zone selected by him or his domicile.

Education Degree from a recognized University for all posts

Although the examination pattern for Computer Based Test has not been declared but the subjects mentioned are General Awareness (which may include General Studies or General Science), Arithmetic and General Intelligence & Reasoning.
Besides that the question paper will of 90 minutes duration with 100 questions, having a negative marking of 1/3rd.
