RBI Grade B Officers Phase I Exam - Analysis Morning Shift - September 4th, 2016



RBI Grade B Officers (Phase I) Exam has been conducted on September 4th 2016. The exam pattern is exactly same as that of the last year. 1 mark will be awarded for every correct answer while 0.25 marks will be deducted for every incorrect answer. All the sections, save English Language section, were available both in English and in Hindi.

General Awareness:

The section had about 28 - 30 questions on Banking Awareness. A few of these questions were fundamental questions on banking terminology whereas most of them were regarding the banking organizations and their establishments.

There were about 23 - 25 questions from Current Affairs which mostly included questions on the latest economic decisions by the government and the key announcements and budget allocations in the recent Budget. There were also about 26 - 28 questions were from static General Knowledge. This section was easier as compared to the last year's RBI Grade B Officer's Exam.

Logical Reasoning:

Broadly, the section comprised of 3 LR sets, which had 17 questions between them, and 43 singlet questions. Out of the 3 sets, there was one set which had 5 questions while the others had 6 questions each. The sets were on Arrangement which basically includes Seating Arrangement, Name - City - Interests - Job type of sets.

Out of the singlets, most of them were Critical Reasoning which was dominated with questions on Strengthening and Weakening of Arguments, Syllogisms and Inference based questions.

English Language:
The section comprised 10 RC questions none of which were direct questions. These were two RC sets which had 5 questions each. The RC passages were from the world of banking and economics. One of the RCs was on 'Shadow Banking' while the other was on 'American Free Trade'.

There were 5 sentence correction questions and 5 fill in the blanks questions which were fairly easy. There was one Cloze Test question with 7 blanks which makes it 7 questions. Apart from these, there were 3 questions on para completion.

Quantitative Aptitude:

This section comprised 10 questions on Data Interpretation which were split into two sets of 5 questions each. While one set was based on Pie Chart, the other was Table based. There were 5 questions which were on Data Sufficiency. In the question, after the problem statement, three supporting statements were given and the student had to choose which supporting statements would be sufficient to solve the problem.

There were 5 questions on series, in which the student was expected to find a pattern in the series of numbers and find the number which did not follow the general rule of the series. Lastly, there were 10 quantitative aptitude questions which basically were from Percentages, Ratios, Time Speed & distance, Time & Work and Partnership etc.
