SSC CGL Tier-II exam for 2016 is scheduled to be conducted on November 30 and December 01, 2016. This year the exam was conducted in a Computer Based Test format.

Detailed Analysis of SSC CGL Tier-II Exam 2016

Paper - I (Quantitative Abilities)

The overall difficulty level and pattern of the paper-I of SSC CGL Tier-II 2016 was almost similar to that of the previous year. The paper saw a mixture of questions from Advanced Math and Arithmetic. A substantial part of the paper was from the Arithmetic, which had questions from Ratio/Mixture/Alligation, Profit & Loss, Averages, Time-Speed-Distance, Time & Work and Percentages. Percentage and Time & Work questions were a bit tricky and time consuming as compared to previous years. Also, a lot of questions were asked from Number System, Algebra, Geometry, Mensuration and Trigonometry.

A smart approach to the paper could have resulted in good attempt of nearly 82-88 questions. The overall difficulty level of the paper was easy to moderate.

Paper - II (English Language & Comprehension)

This year’s paper-II of SSC CGL Tier-II 2016 was mainly based on last year’s question paper. However, this year’s question paper was a bit more difficult. This section was dominated by Grammar and Vocabulary. In Vocabulary, questions were asked on Synonyms/Antonyms, One word substitution, wrongly Spelt Words and Idioms. In Grammar, the usual topics covered were Sentence Improvement, Spot the Error, Sentence Completion, Direct/Indirect Speech and Active/Passive Voice. There were a total of 4 RC passages. 1 RC passage was particularly difficult and a few questions on Reading Comprehension were tricky.

A smart approach to the paper could have resulted in good attempt of nearly 160-170 questions. The overall difficulty level of the paper was moderate to difficult.
