Staff Selection Commission CPO (SI/ASI) Examination (Paper I) - 2018: Analysis (March 12, 2019) - Morning Shift



Today was the first day of the SSC CPO (SI/ASI) Examination (Paper I) -2018. It has been conducted Staff Selection Commission from 12th March to 16th March 2019. The exam is being conducted in two time slots: morning and evening.

A total of 200 questions had to be answered in 120 minutes. All the sections, except English Comprehension, were available in both English and Hindi. Every correct answer will fetch 1 mark, while every incorrect answer will reduce the score by 0.25.

A student could have easily attempted approximately 35 questions in this section. The overall difficulty level of this section was easy to moderate.

GK and General Awareness:

As usual, maximum questions were from Science section, which were of moderate level of difficulty. Polity, Economics and Current Affairs were quantitatively second in number, having 9 questions. History was third with 7 questions. Rest of the sections were as usual in nature.

The difficulty level of this section was moderate. As usual, maximum questions were from Science section (16 in all). Polity, Economics and Current Affairs were quantitatively second in number, having 7-9 questions. History was third with 6 questions. Rest of the sections were as usual in nature. A score in the range of 25 to 30 should be treated as ‘Good’, in this section.

Most of the questions were based directly on formulas. There were few questions which were time consuming and required some rigorous calculation but could have been easily solved had they been worked out through options. A student could have easily attempted approximately 30-33 questions in this section. The overall difficulty level of this section was easy to moderate.

A majority of the questions in this section can be categorised under Vocabulary and Grammar. In Vocabulary, there were questions on Antonyms, Synonyms and One word Substitution. In Grammar, there were questions on Sentence Improvement, Spot the Error and Cloze Test. There was one Reading Comprehension Passage with 5 questions. A student could have easily attempted 35-36 questions in this section. The overall difficulty level of this section was easy to moderate.
