Vinayaka Mission’s Research Foundation (VMRF-DU) is a pioneering university established in 1981 as the Thirumuruga Kirupananda Variyar Thavathiru Sundara Swamigal Medical Educational and Charitable Trust. Recognized as the 48th university in India in 2001, VMRF-DU is committed to providing high-quality education across various disciplines.

“Law School of the Future”
Vinayaka Mission's Law School, describes itself as a "Law School of the Future" where they envision three key pillars: inclusivity and diversity in the student pool, aided by bilingual teaching support; future proofing learners by equipping them with skills and knowledge pertaining to the impact of emerging technologies on both the content and practice of law; extensive clinical education with a focus on justice delivery and support. All the four centres of excellence, smart classrooms and other state of the art infrastructure, and faculty with international training and exposure, exist and collaborate in service of this vision.

Centre for Global Tamil Law
Global Tamil Law Centre aims to develop innovative programs and enhance advocacy and research skills in Tamil language for legal practice in Tamil Nadu's Courts. It also strives to promote grassroots access to justice by providing learning resources in Tamil alongside English instruction. The initiative benefits students seeking to supplement their legal education with Tamil materials and includes the establishment of a Tamil Law library. The Centre will collaborate with global Tamil Associations and diaspora across the world.
Centre for Justice Through Technology
The Centre for Justice Through Technology strives to be an incubator and ideator of Social Justice Innovation. The Centre focuses on developing more effective tools, products, processes, services, technologies, and ideas for delivering justice, empowering common citizens to achieve their full potential.
Centre for Promotion of International Law
The Centre for Promotion of International Law is dedicated to promoting excellence in research and teaching of International Law, a field that has gained unprecedented significance in today’s world. Additionally, the Centre operates an E-Journal, which features original work focusing on contemporary issues in International Law.
Centre for Maritime Law
The Centre for Maritime Law is committed to advancing the study and research of admiralty and maritime law. Recognizing the need for development in India's jurisdiction and laws related to maritime matters, particularly in Tamil Nadu with its major ports, the Centre focuses on bridging this gap and contributing to the field's growth. The Centre gains significance as the Madras High Court holds Admiralty Jurisdiction in the region.

Fee Structure
Tuition fee – INR 2 Lakhs per year
Eligibility Criteria-
- A pass in 10+2/Intermediate or equivalent examination. (Candidates appearing for April-May 2024 Examinations can also apply.)
- Not less than 45% marks for General Category, 42% for OBC and 40% for SC/ST.
Admission Criteria-
- VLAT 5 Score*
- 10+2 (or equivalent) marks
*Alternatively, the Valid Score of LSAT-India /CLAT / AILET / CUET and MHCET scores are also accepted
Three Year Law
- LL.B. (Hons.)
Duration: 3 Years
Fee Structure
INR 2 Lakhs per year
Eligibility Criteria-
- Bachelor’s degree in any stream from a University or an equivalent Institution recognized as deemed to be University or from a foreign University declared as equivalent to an Indian degree by a competent authority (Candidates who expect to graduate in June 2024 may also apply).
- Not less than 45% marks for General Category, 42% for OBC and 40% for SC/ST.
Admission Criteria-
- VLAT 3 Score*
- Bachelor’s Degree marks.
*Alternatively, Valid scores of LSAT- India / CUET and NLSAT scores are also accepted.
Scholarship will be awarded to the commendable candidates excelling in State Board and CBSE examinations, as well as to Tamil Nadu district toppers. Additionally, financial support will be extended to economically and socially backward students, while scholarships will be allocated to those pursuing education in the Tamil medium. This comprehensive program aims to recognize and encourage academic achievement, inclusivity, and linguistic diversity, ensuring that students from diverse backgrounds have the opportunity to excel in their educational pursuits.
