Is the General Test compulsory for everyone in the CUET exam?
CUET (Common University Entrance Test) has 3 different sections, namely:
- Language (33 options)
- Domain Subjects (27)
- General Test (GT)
Any student appearing for CUET needs to choose a minimum of 3 and a maximum of 10 subjects from the available 61 options across all three sections.
Is the General Test mandatory? No, the General Test is **not** compulsory for all students. It depends on the program you are applying for and the university’s admission criteria.
Some universities **do** require it, while others do not.
There is some confusion regarding whether the General Test is needed for **all** CUET (UG) programs. In reality, **approximately 60%** of UG programs require it. However, even if your preferred program doesn’t require the General Test, you may **still opt for it** as it can increase your chances of admission to a wider range of programs.
Understanding the exam structure and requirements is crucial for proper preparation.
