About CA Intermediate: Overview and Eligibility

Intermediate a new level in the study and exam levels in preparation to be a certified Chartered Accountant. This is a level just short of being a CA, and aspirants clearing this level are known as Accounting Technicians. The objective behind introducing this exam is to give aspirants who have the desire to work in accounting but no longer wish to work towards the full CA qualification a certificate to acknowledge the effort made till date. Accounting technicians have limited roles, as their area of expertise is limited.

Aspirants can make it to the CA Intermediate level by either clearing the Foundation Course or the Intermediate exam conducted by The Institute of Cost Accountants of India or The Institute of Company Secretaries of India.

Graduates or Post Graduates from a recognized university with at least 55% marks or equivalent in the final examinations are eligible for CA Intermediate. Aspirants who have studied Accounting and other associated subjects are exempt the qualifying Foundation course and can apply for CA Intermediate directly. We suggest reviewing the actual CA Intermediate Notification for the latest rules.
