MDI Gurgaon has released the notification regarding the admission process for their Post Graduate Management program for the Batch of 2021. You can apply for the courses between 16th September and 27th November. You can find more information regarding the same here

MDI Introduction

Management Development Institute (MDI) was established in 1973 in collaboration with several global institutions like UNDP, UNIDO, World Bank and ILO, with an initial grant received from KfW, West Germany, and with the active support of Industrial Finance Corporation of India (IFCI). MDI is accredited by the Association of MBAs (AMBA) and is the first business school in India to get that accreditation. MDI has come up with its second campus at Murshidabad, West. MDI offers the following programmes:

MDI Eligibility

Eligibility for PGPM / PGP-HRM

  • The candidates must have 50% marks or equivalent CGPA in both X and XII.
  • The candidate must have a Bachelor’s Degree of minimum 3 years duration with at least 50% marks or equivalent CGPA in any discipline from any University incorporated by an Act of the Central or State legislature in India or other educational institutions established by an Act of Parliament or declared to be deemed as a University under Section 3 of UGC Act, 1956, or possess an equivalent qualification recognized by the Ministry of HRD, Government of India.
  • Candidates appearing for the final examination for the bachelor's degree (or equivalent examination) and completing all requirements for obtaining the bachelor's degree by 30th June, of that year can also apply.

Eligibility for PGP IM

  • Candidates are required to possess at least 50% marks or equivalent grade point average in both 10th and 12th standard along with graduation degree ( 4 years minimum) with at least 50% marks or equivalent grade point average in any stream from any institution incorporated by an Act of the Central/State legislature in India or institutions established by an Act of Parliament or declared to be deemed as a university under Section 3 of UGC Act, 1956, or have an equivalent qualification accredited by Ministry of HRD, Govt of India
  • The candidate should have at least 1 year of work experience after graduation as on 31 Dec 2019.

On successfully completing the programme, students will be awarded a Post Graduate Diploma in Management from MDI Gurgaon and MIM from ESCP Europe. It is a joint diploma programme approved by Association of Indian Universities and AICTE

Eligibility for NMP / PGP–EM

  • The candidates must have 50% marks or equivalent CGPA in both X and XII.
  • The candidate must have a Bachelor’s Degree of minimum 3 years duration with at least 50% marks or equivalent CGPA in any discipline from any University incorporated by an Act of the Central or State legislature in India or other educational institutions established by an Act of Parliament or declared to be deemed as a University under Section 3 of UGC Act, 1956, or possess an equivalent qualification recognized by the Ministry of HRD, Government of India.
  • The candidate must have a minimum of 5 years of post-qualification executive work experience as on December 31.
  • All sponsored candidates are required to take either CAT (domestic applicants) or GMAT (international applicants) test.

Eligibility for PGP–PPM

Officers of All India Services and Officers of Class 1 Service from central and state governments (organized, non-organized, technical and non-technical) which are sponsored by DoPT, Govt of India, faculty members of state ATIs and State civil service officers can apply for this program, pertaining to the following eligibility conditions :

1.   Age: The officer should not be more than 50 years of age on the date of commencement of the programme (53 years in case of officers belonging to SC and ST).

2.   Length of Service: Officers of All India Services, Central Services should have put in at least seven years of Group “A” service. The State Civil Service Officers should have put in at least nine years of Group “A” service.

3.  Earlier Training: The officer should not have undergone a training programme of 12 weeks or more duration in India during a period of five years preceding the date of commencement of the programme. The officer should not have undergone a programme of training abroad of more than two weeks in preceding two years, more than one month in preceding three years or more than six months in the preceding five years.

Eligibility for PGDM- EMP

  • Managers/Executives of Private, Public, and Government Undertakings and State and Central Government Departments are eligible to apply. Entrepreneurs from family businesses are also eligible to apply.
  • A minimum of 3-year bachelor's degree or equivalent in any discipline recognized by the Association of Indian Universities/AICTE
  • A minimum of 50% marks in 10th, 12th, and bachelor's degree or equivalent CGPA
  • A minimum of 3 years of post-qualification executive work experience (excluding stipendiary / training period) as on 31 March 2020 for April 2020 Batch and 30th September 2020 for October 2020 Batch.

Eligibility for FPM/EFPM

MDI prefers to shortlist candidates with a decent overall academic profile, professional experience and an innate desire to encourage and spread creativity in the management field. The eligibility criteria is as follows: 

  • Candidates are required to possess a master's degree with a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent GPA. The degree needs to be approved by AICTE/UGC/AIU along with graduation after completing higher secondary education (12th grade)

Or

  • Candidates are required to have five-year integrated master's degree programme in any specialization with minimum 60% marks, granted post completion of higher secondary education (12th grade)
  • A minimum of 50% marks in 10th, 12th and graduation or equivalent grade point average.

If candidates wish to pursue EFPM (Executive Fellow Programme in Management), then they should be of 35 years of age with at least 10 full years of managerial work experience, preferably at senior level management as on last date of registration.

MDI Admission Procedure

  • For PGPM / PGP-HRM / PGP-IM

1. Candidates are shortlisted based on CAT percentiles, including sectional cut-offs.

2. The shortlisted candidates are then called for a round of Group Discussion, Written Analysis Test and Personal Interviews.


  • For NMP / PGP–EM

1. Candidates will be shortlisted based on their CAT or GMAT Scores

2. Shortlisted candidates will be called for a round of Personal Interview.

  • For PGDM – EMP
    • Candidates will be shortlisted based on MDI written test scores. In case a candidate had obtained a valid CAT and GMAT score, he will be exempted from taking the MDI test. 
    • Shortlisted candidates will be called for a round of Personal Interview.

Important: Keep in mind that the GMAT score should have a validity of 5 years with reference to the last registration date of April 2020 and October 2020 batch respectively. 

MDI Eligibility and Selection Criteria for PGP

Stage 1 (short listing):

  • The short listing for WAT–GD–PI of candidates is done based on CAT percentiles including their overall academic details and sectional cut offs from eligible application pool of MDI, Gurgaon. The minimum CAT percentile requirement is decided based on the number of candidates to be shortlisted.

Stage 2 (WAT–GD–PI):

  • The shortlisted candidates will go through the following process:
    • Written Analysis Test (WAT): Candidates must submit a written analysis on the topic provided. The evaluation of WAT will be on content and language.
    • Group Discussion (GD): Candidates must discuss the same topic in group discussion. The evaluation of GD will be on group behavior, speech deliverance and content.
    • Personal Interview (PI): Thereafter candidates must appear for personal interview. The evaluation will be on communication, analytical ability, general aptitude and business awareness.

The merit list is prepared by considering CAT scores, Application score and WAT-GD-PI Score.
