IIFT 2021 Syllabus

IIFT 2021 Syllabus like CAT is not defined. However, after analyzing the IIFT previous year papers and questions, we have combined a list of topics per section that you need to cover. The number of sections in IIFT changed from 6 to 4 in IIFT 2020 (2020 - 2022). The paper consists of 4 sections - General awareness, Verbal Ability& Reading Comprehension, Logical Reasoning & Data Interpretation and Quantitative Aptitude.

Section 1: General Awareness

The IIFT examiners have been very specific about this section of the paper. By looking at previous year’s questions, one can analyze that this section is a combination of general knowledge and current affairs. The topics are reasonable in nature and cover the head of any well-informed individual. Some questions are slightly off-beat and are related to international trade.

The General Awareness section consists of 20 questions. The marks per question for this section are 1.5. IIFT Syllabus on GA places a mix of questions on currencies, appointments, personalities, business and economy among others. The syllabus details are provided as under:

Section 2: Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension

The Verbal Ability section consists of 19 questions. The marks per question for this section are 3. The following types of questions and topics appear in this section:

The Reading Comprehension section consists of 16 questions. The marks per question for this section are 3. The following types of questions are asked from the Reading Comprehension Passage:

People tend to presume that for VARC, their focus should be more on their reading speed rather than vocabulary. IIFT has a unique way of testing your vocabulary, and it has evolved over the years. IIFT reading comprehension questions also include vocabulary questions so that the students can find out the relevant meaning of the word from the passage itself. Apart from this, the synonyms and antonyms are also asked in the exam. Hence, a candidate should focus more on curating the overall reading strategy rather than paying attention to the time crunch.

Similarly, fill in the Blanks, Grammar Usage, Facts, Inferences and Judgments and Correction in Sentence are loosely part of the IIFT syllabus as they have been asked in the past.

Key changes for IIFT 2021 Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension

The English section and the reading comprehension section has been combined into a single section without separate sectional cut-offs. However, there will be 4-5 RC passages which will include 14-16 questions from the VARC section. The level of difficulty of RC passages will be the same.

Section 3: Logical Reasoning and Data Interpretation

DILR is one of the trickiest and most time-consuming sections in IIFT entrance. The number of questions to be solved is 30, within a 90-minute deadline.

The LR questions are usually arrangements with a combination of the other topics. As can be seen, the number of topics for reasoning is quite numerous. As a result, the reasoning topics can lead to very complicated sets when combined with each other. The major concern with solving LR questions is not to solve them but solving them as expeditiously as possible. The syllabus topics for LR are given below:

The Logical Reasoning section consists of 15 questions. The marks per question for this section are 3. You need to study the following topics for this section:

The Data Interpretation section consists of 15 questions. The marks per question for this section are 3. You need to study the following topics for this section:

Key changes for IIFT 2021 Logical Reasoning and Data Interpretation

The QA syllabus is quite vast. You must keep in mind that the below list is only indicative of the areas included in the IIFT Syllabus. The actual questions may be asked from the other topics as well. However, this assumed IIFT QA syllabus would help you streamline your preparation. The quantitative ability section will comprise 25 questions, and the total marks will be awarded out of 75 for the same. Here as some probable topics that will add to your preparation strategy:

The sub-sections in the QA IIFT syllabus include:

Highlights of IIFT 2021 Quantitative Aptitude

Commercial Mathematics is reasonably easy to prepare for since the number of questions is limited, and the formulae to be learnt are straightforward.

Arithmetic is also basic and should be easy to make for. Most of the topics in Arithmetic are of Class X level, and the only trick is to solve them as fast as possible.

Algebra and Trigonometry may be used in conjunction with other topics or may be tested in the IIFT 2021 Exam. Sequence and Series is a topic which is occasionally tested in CAT and regularly in IIFT. With practice and right guidance, the questions in this topic can be easily solved.

IIFT 2021 (2021-2023) Paper Pattern

The IIFT 2021 Exam is expected to be along the same lines as the IIFT 2020 Exam. The IIFT 2021 Exam will have 4 sections with the number of questions expected to be 110.
