The CAT 2025 exam is scheduled for November 30, 2025, and this year it will be organised by IIM Kozhikode. The last date to register for the CAT exam 2025, as per the official CAT website, was 20th September 2025, until 5:00 PM.
This year, the CAT exam fee has been increased from INR 2,500 to INR 2,600 for General candidates and from INR 1,250 to INR 1,300 for SC/ST/PwD candidates. The CAT 2025 exam will take place in three shifts at over 170 cities across India.
Like last year, the CAT exam will be conducted in three shifts, with each slot having a duration of 2 hours. The difficulty level is predicted to be moderate to difficult this year. To be eligible to appear for CAT 2025, candidates must possess an undergraduate degree. The minimum grade point average should be 50% (45% for students in reserved categories).
The CAT Exam (Common Admission Test) is one of India’s most prestigious entrance exams for MBA and PGDM courses, primarily conducted for admissions into IIMs and other top business schools. Preparing for CAT is not just about cracking an exam; rather, it’s the first step toward pursuing an MBA.
More than 2.5 lakh candidates sit for the CAT exam every year, and registrations are mostly higher than that. CAT scores are the first step of screening, and they hugely determine the choice of your B-schools in India. A high CAT percentile will ascertain more options for the best MBA programs in this country.
CAT, or Common Admission Test, is a management entrance test conducted by the Indian Institute of Management. Candidates who successfully pass the CAT exam in 2025 will be admitted to the top MBA colleges in India. A basic overview of CAT 2025 is given below:

In comparison, CAT is an aptitude test aimed at evaluating the logical skills essential for future managers. Regarding difficulty, the CAT is viewed as more challenging than the IIT exam. Furthermore, the CAT is more competitive since it allows students from any educational background to take the exam.
No, TITA questions in CAT do not have negative marking. Only the multiple-choice questions have negative marking if the answer is wrong.
If you are a first-time CAT taker, then it is recommended to start your CAT preparation at least 10-12 months before the exam. This allows students to build a strong foundation, practice extensively, and attempt multiple mock tests.
The CAT exam is known to be challenging due to its rigorous competition and difficulty level of the questions. However, with the correct mentorship, guidance and practice, it is not difficult to crack the exam.
