Aligarh Muslim University UG Admission 2026: AMU is one of India's oldest and most distinguished central universities. Founded in 1875 as the Muhammadan Anglo-Oriental College by the educationist and social reformer Sir Syed Ahmad Khan. It was granted university status through an Act of Parliament in 1920.
AMU UG admission 2026 uses a dual-track process: a subset of UG programs admit students based on CUET UG 2026 scores, while the majority of UG and all PG, professional, and doctoral programs are conducted through AMU's own Admission Tests.
AMU has 13 Faculties - Agricultural Sciences, Arts, Commerce, Engineering & Technology, International Studies, Law, Medicine, Management Studies & Research, Science, Social Sciences, etc. - along with over 117 teaching departments, 3 academies, 21 centres and institutes, and several constituent colleges. The university also operates three off-campus centres at Malappuram (Kerala), Murshidabad (West Bengal), and Kishanganj (Bihar).
This guide covers the complete AMU UG admission 2026 process - from important dates, CUET-based and test-based programs, colleges and institutions, to documents required and special categories.
AMU is accredited with an 'A+' grade by NAAC (CGPA 3.35 on a four-point scale). It is ranked 8th among Indian universities (16th Overall) in the NIRF 2024 rankings, and secured 3rd position in the MDRA India Today University Rankings 2025.

CUET-based AMU UG admission 2026 (eligible programs) follows the procedure laid down in the official Guide to Admissions 2026-27:
Latest CUET 2026 Updates: CUET 2026 Exam Pattern
The majority of AMU's UG programs are admitted through AMU's own Admission Tests, conducted in offline (pen-and-paper) mode at designated test centres. These tests were conducted between April 12 and June 3, 2026. Candidates must apply through the AMU admission portal (amucontrollerexams.com), download their Admit Card from the same portal, and appear at the allotted centre.
AMU conducts Admission Tests across multiple cities. The available test centres per course category are:
AMU reserves the right to change or cancel any test centre without prior notice and may allot a centre different from the candidate's preference.
As per AMU's rules, no candidate securing less than 20% marks in the AMU Admission Test / Departmental Test shall be eligible for admission to the concerned course of study, irrespective of merit rank.
The following general eligibility conditions apply for admission to UG programs at AMU for the academic session 2026-27, as specified in the official Guide to Admissions 2026-27:
AMU prescribes maximum age limits for various courses. The maximum age is reckoned as of July 1 of the year of admission. Candidates from Madaris are granted a relaxation of up to 3 years in the maximum age limit. PwBD candidates are granted a relaxation of up to 5 years in age for courses prescribing a maximum age limit (except where statutory/regulatory limits apply). Candidates must check course-specific age limits in the official Guide to Admissions 2026-27.
The following documents (originals and self-attested copies) must be produced at the time of physical reporting/counselling for AMU UG admission 2026:
* AMU will verify all certificates at the time of counselling / physical reporting. If the original marksheet of the qualifying examination is not submitted within the stipulated time, or if any discrepancy is found, the university reserves the right to cancel the provisional admission with no fee refund.
AMU charges a non-refundable application/processing fee for each UG course. The fee amount varies by course and category. Key fee-related provisions from the official Guide 2026-27:
* Candidates must verify the exact fee for each course in Appendix XI (Summary of Courses with Admission Fee) of the official AMU Guide to Admissions 2026-27 at amucontrollerexams.com, as fees differ by course and category.
Also, check college, course, and category-wise DU CUET Cutoff (Official)
