The first four phases were marked by controversies around last moment change of exam centers, technical issues during exam and even cancellations at many locations. The CUET will now continue till 30th August 2022, instead of 20th August as planned earlier.

22nd August was the second day of Phase V. Issues apart, the paper again was very much as has been in the earlier days/phases. Students found the papers to be easy except for a few domain subjects like mathematics which has been considered a little moderate in difficulty level all throughout till now.

Previous Exam Analysis

Section 1: English

English language paper in Section 1 had three passages followed by six questions each. The passages were based on pollution & food crisis, Munshi Prem Chand and grandmother. There were 2-3 questions from figures of Speech and Para-jumbles. There were 5-6 questions from poetic devices. Overall, an easy paper and students were able to complete the same within 20-25 minutes.

Section 2: Domain Subjects

Chemistry: There were 2 passages on molecular mass & compounds. Both the passages had 4-5 questions each, out of these 3-4 were numerical. From organic chemistry there were 10-12 questions, the questions were IUPAC name, reaction. There were questions related to monoatomic molecules, acidic, basic characteristics of matters. Overall, the questions were easy to moderate.

Mathematics: The questions were easy to moderate. Very heavy weightage was given to calculus, with around 16-20 questions from the topic. A close second was the chapter matrices and determinants, with around 10-14 questions from the topic. Most of the questions from both the topics were easy to moderate. There were around 4-5 questions from probability, these questions were easy. The questions from probability were based on the basic properties of probability and probability distribution. There were around 3 questions from geometry which were of moderate level. The questions were based on the topics circle and parabola. There were around 5 questions from chapter relations & functions. The questions from relations and functions were finding range, inverse, domain etc. Overall, a student who is well-versed with properties of calculus & matrices and determinants, would find the exam easy as these topics had the most weightage in the examination.

Applied Mathematics: In the applied mathematics paper, a lot of weightages was given to calculus and matrices & determinants. There were questions like inverse, skew symmetric and fill the values from the topic of matrices. There were around 4 questions from probability, 4-5 questions from mensuration and 2 questions were from linear programming. There were 4 questions from pipes & cisterns and 1 question each from modulus, allegations & mixture, boats and streams, races and games and partnership.

Political Science: There were 14-15 questions on the chronological order. Many questions were asked for the years of an event. Around 5 questions were from Crisis of the Constitutional order in the form of a passage. The passage was on Emergency. Another passage was on the end of bipolarity. Section 3: General Test

The general knowledge part emphasised static general knowledge. If one had practised enough, the questions on the numerical ability test would have been simple to solve. Questions on quadratic equations, geometry, time and work, time, speed and distance, HCF, common factor, trigonometry, BODMAS, area, rhombus, simple interest, cone, and percentages were straightforward, and one would have felt ecstatic. Other than set theory, blood relations, coding, directions, and analogy-based problems, there are a few Visual reasoning questions on the Reasoning exam.

Overall, day 2 of Phase V turned out to be an easy one.
