Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI): It is a central university located in Okhla, Delhi. The University was originally established in 1920 in Aligarh, United Province (Now Uttar Pradesh). In 1935, it was moved to its current location.

  • JMI is recognised by University Grants Commission (UGC)
  • It is a member of the Association of Indian Universities (AIU)
  • It is accredited with an “A” Grade by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) and ranked 3rd by NIRF 2021.

The University started taking UG admissions from the academic year 2022-23 under the banner of CUET. It made this announcement in November 2021 and is now open to selecting candidates via the CUET Exam, which will be conducted by NTA (National Testing Agency). Till 2021, Jamia Millia Islamia UG admission was conducted by its university entrance exams, but from now on it will be done via the common entrance exam CUET.

The students seeking admission to the undergraduate courses in JMI will have to appear in the CUET. There are 56 UG courses offered by the university including B.Tech, B.D.S, B.P.T, etc. Check out the details of the exam below to have a detailed idea about the same.

Jamia Millia Islamia University UG Admission Process

With the introduction of the CUET for admission to Jamia Millia Islamia, the students will experience a change in the admission procedure as well. Following are the expected admission procedure for JMI:

  • Students will be required to log in to the website of CUET and fill up the form by creating their login IDs.

  • The application form will be made available on the official website where students can fill the form by mentioning all the details along with documents for the purpose of verification.

  • Lastly, a sum of the amount will be charged as application fees that students will have to pay. They can use net banking, wallet payment, and credit/debit card to make the payment and successfully apply for the CUET.

The NTA is entitled to conduct the CUET. Therefore there is a small amount of fees incurred as application fees in order to make the arrangements for the exam. Check out the application fees in the table below:

Note:

  • Candidates under OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) are required to submit a relevant certificate issued by the competent authority.

  • If seats remain vacant in the women category and OBC-NCL then those seats will be transferred to the Muslim Minority category.

  • Internal Jamia Candidates are those who have completed their qualifying examination from JMI. Those who have completed their degree through Private or Distance will not be considered for relaxation.

  • No seats are available in the BDS course for Kashmiri Migrants and candidates belonging to J & K. mode

  • For the B.Arch course, no seats are available for foreign candidates.

  • NCC Cadets and NSS Volunteers will be eligible for a relaxation of 5% and 2% marks respectively in the aggregate of the qualifying examination.

A. The popular courses which are offered in JMI are BBA, B.Tech., BPT & MCA. Admission to all the undergraduate courses is offered on the basis of the JMI entrance test conducted by the University. 

A. Yes, JMI provides admissions to the students on the basis of the sports quota. The students who show outstanding performance in sports are eligible for the sports quota. Besides, the students are also provided 5% relaxation in the minimum eligibility criteria for admission to the course.

A. The different modes of payment for admission fees in JMI are mentioned below:

  • Cash mode: The students can make payment of admission fees in the branches of either the Indian Bank or Bank of India. In such a  case, the students are required to collect a pay-in-slip from the concerned departments.

  • Online mode: JMI also accepts fees through Net Banking, Credit Card, and Debit Card. 

  • Demand Draft: Payment of fees through demand draft in favour of “ The Registrar, Jamia Millia Islamia”, payable at New Delhi is another mode of payment accepted in JMI.
